“What's fascinating about the scenario is that it would have seemed embarrassingly over-the-top a few years ago, but now seems as plausible as a documentary.” Here’s the BBC review: www.bbc.com/culture/arti...

Digger review: Tom Cruise takes the 'biggest risk of his career' in this 'love-it-or-hate-it' folly ★★★★☆
Tom Cruise's performance as a bizarre oil tycoon makes Digger the "weirdest film he's ever made". But there's much more to this divisive, satirical comedy than viewers might expect.

The facts behind the Digger story are very nicely presented in this recent report on the fossil fuel industry propaganda campaign to spread doubt about human-caused #globalwarming. Both watching the movie and looking at this report are highly recommended. climateintegrity.org/projects/cli...

Watched Digger - a wild & visionary satire about the fossil fuel industry and politics. Great dialogues, often laughing-out-loud funny and disturbingly true. It won't be popular in the US but may well become a classic. Tom Cruise deserves an Oscar for his portrayal of oil company boss Digger.

Minor comment: the Baker paper mentioned near the end does not show that the AMOC is more resilient to global warming than other studies have suggested - that's a misunderstanding. It can't show that since it uses the same models. I blogged on that at realclimate: www.realclimate.org/index.php/ar...

An interesting new study has examined 20,736 scientific publications about climate tipping points. Several of those are estimated to be crossed around 1.5 degrees warming, i.e. any time soon: permafrost thaw, Greenland Ice Sheet, North Atlantic Subpolar Gyre. theconversation.com/some-climate...

Was genau will die Bundeswirtschaftsministerin?

Sommer 2026: 16.000 Hitzetote 🥵 alleine in 🇩🇪.
