For visual learners or those who prefer visuals here you go! Demi-verbal (HT): witchy fennec on Tumblr
A post with a bright yellow background. On a light blue design that seems heart shaped like the state of Ohio is text in a goldish yellow hue. The text is as follows: Demi-verbal: Can reliably speak most of the day for most days of the week
Verbal shutdowns happen anywhere from a few times a week to a few times a month, possibly for no apparent reason
May experience some level of difficulty with mouth words, anywhere between slight difficulty only a little of the time to half the time. At the bottom of the post in a blue shade is the text: hat tip (HT): witchy fennec (Tumblr)

The visual (Google just told me I'm old) #millennials
A screenshot of Google results to the question, "are millennials still young?"

No, Millennials are not still young; in 2025, they are roughly 29 to 44 years old , with the oldest members entering their 40s, though their perceived youthfulness can be attributed to factors like improved health, lifestyle choices, and the changing definition of "middle age".

Current Age Range

Millennials were born between 1981 and 1996, making them approximately 29 to 44 years old as of 2025.

The oldest millennials, born around 1981, are now in their early to mid-40s.

Many people get the terms associated with neurodiversity (neurodivergent, allistic, neurodivergence, etc.) mixed up so I made a video to help. NOTE: these terms aren't diagnoses rather, sociopolitical, non-medical umbrella terms. Anyone, they apply to, can use them. Inclusivity not exclusion

Well I wasn't expecting this but m'kay...Yay me! If y'all enjoy random posts and possibly intriguing insights let's chat! I'm AuDHD (Autistic with ADHD) so be prepared for info dumps and topics regarding AuDHD as well!
A info card curated by BlueSky social informing me that they're celebrating ten million users to the platform and I am number one million, five hundred forty five thousand, seven hundred and six. It took way longer than I'd liked to have written that number out. 1, 545, 706 is the number

The need for certain objects by autistic people can be a combination of sensory, comfort, familiarity, and practicality factors that help to support their overall well-being and functioning. See Alt-text to make more sense of the screenshot I took.
Some Autistic people may prefer certain items due to sensory sensitivities* as the weight, color, texture or shape may offer sensory input** that's soothing or comfortable for them. Familiarity and routine may play a part too, providing a sense of stability & predictability in an otherwise chaotic world. The design of the item may also offer ergonomic benefits making it easier to handle and provide comfortability

A layperson might be correct but may be missing possible co-occurring conditions. Due to that possibility it's crucial (if possible) to seek a professional. Here are some helpful tips if you're tryna figure out if you're Autistic. Alt-text ran outta space 😕
Look for patterns of behavior: consistently exhibit a combination of social communication challenges, repetitive behaviors & restricted interests, may indicate traits commonly associated with Autism
Consider sensory sensitivities: often have atypical responses to sensory stimuli. Pay attention to how you react to different sensory inputs such as light, sound, touch, taste & smell
Evaluate social interactions: Watch for signs of difficulty in understanding social cues, maintaining conversations, or forming relationships
Assess communication skills: may have challenges with both verbal & nonverbal communication. Look for issues such as limited eye contact, speech delays, repetitive language, and difficulty understanding sarcasm or irony
Explore interests and behaviors: intense focus on particular subjects or rituals may suggest traits of ASD
Consider the context: It's important to understand that being quirky or having unique preferences doesn't necessarily mean someone is Autistic.

Also, I'm a communication major, rather I was. The below diagram can be helpful to many people & can be useful in an effort to understand why self-diagnosis isn't meant to be a one-stop shop* but rather a collaborative effort between an autistic person and an informed qualified clinician
A screenshot of the Johari Window. It is a square split into four smaller squares. From left to right (top row): My Public Self and My Blind Spot. From left to right (bottom row): My Hidden Self and My Unconscious Self.

My Public Self is what I show to others about me. My Hidden Self is what I choose to hide from others. My Blind Spots are parts of me that others see but I do not. My Unconscious Self are parts of me that is neither visible to me or others. We all have these four parts of Self, as shown in the Johari Window diagram, but their respective sizes vary in each of us.

Someone called me a name I won't repeat all bc I was correctin' their misinformation on Autism. It's important to get the information as correctly as possible. There's already too much misinformation! Let's not spread more
More girls have been diagnosed as the diagnostic criteria catches up to the science. Speakin' of the criteria, it's been around since the 1920's. A child psychologist Grunya Sukhareva was the first to identify Autistic children. Her work has gone relatively unknown & remains so even now. Her findings are nearly identical to the current criteria. In the past, the criteria for ASD was very strict & typically applied to white boys. As the criteria catches up w/initial findings, the number of diagnoses have risen. Public education & access also play a role in the increase in diagnoses. Many Auties flew “under the radar” in the past. But today more are being identified. It's not new at all. The blame goes onto racial, socioeconomic, cultural as well as gender bias as to why certain people weren't afforded a diagnosis in the first place. The onus is on the medical & psychology field not the people impacted by their (med & psych) faults.

My turn! I didn't highlight which type of verbal I am. I'm not non-verbal or non-speaking. I used to be semiverbal and while I'm able to speak I don't always do that so well.
An Autism Bingo board. In row one from left to right is stimming, notice details that others don't, enjoy routine, use fidget toys, semiverbal. In row two from left to right is have meltdowns, am creative, have a special interest, am friends with other autistics, don't make eye contact. In row three from left to right is an fully verbal, have high levels of empathy, am Autistic, have a comfort item, have shutdowns. In row four from left to right is have difficulty expressing emotions, don't support Autism speaks, maintain information about topics I enjoy, don't pick up on social cues, am academic. In row five from left to right is an easily socially drained, have sensory sensitivities, am nonverbal, find it hard to cope with change, have been told I don't look Autistic.

24 hours in a day, 8 hours of sleep is required, work days are typically 8 hours and the remaining 8 hours are typically made up of leisure time, prep work, housework, schoolwork, eating, drinking, and/or caring for others (pets included) but is it enough?
