Alas. It was not the final upload.

It's taken me a *long time* but I'm very very close to finishing my video on Sanitarium. If nothing goes wrong, I'll have it out by the end of the month.

Moody topdown photo of a wooden desk with the box of Sanitarium in the center.

The last video on I Have No Mouth was actually the first "remake" of a very old mini video I made on the game 10y ago. Thanks for the wonderful reception 🙏🧡 For the next one I'm revisiting another old fossile: Sanitarium. And thematically, it's going to be IHNM's sister-essay. I'm cooking here!👨‍🍳

Finally arrived at the finish line of my video on I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Netting 80 minutes in total. And we're going places in this one. Was quite the marathon, but I'm really excited to release it very very soon!

Hoping every day that someone runs a GenAI colorizing algorithm over Andrei Rublev (1966) so I can finally watch it the way Tarkovsky meant it to be watched.

This video on 'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream' is taking longer than expected because I keep wanting to illustrate things that require me to do tons of menial hand-isolating on crusty pixel graphics and hand-craft some graphics here and there, so... I'm getting there....

Excited for the Fatal Frame 2 remake. Always so glad to see Fatal Frame get some love. Hopefully the remake is so good and sells so well that TECMO decides to make Fatal Frame f, a Fatal Frame spinoff set in a New England town.

Everytime someone mentions their use of GenAI in a conversation I instantly feel two red minus signs appear above my head.

Nightdive has just released their absolutely excellent remaster of System Shock 2, so what better time to go on a DEEP DIVE through the ENTIRE franchise! Get comfy, grab your hypo-stim of choice and jack in. We're going on A Journey Through System Shock youtu.be/sTPGCKhgxgQ

My new video on PHANTASMAGORIA is out! I've been wanting to give this one a critical re-appraisal for a very long time, because it's genuinely one of the best FMV-Horror Thrillers of all time. Let's find out why! youtu.be/ioxXMGRXP08

What kind of ergonomic mouse are you using? One of the "vertical" ones? I tried one of those but personally found it actually more taxing on the wrist because it was so heavy. Since then I've pivoted to a super-old Microsoft Intellimouse from 2000 and it works beautifully since it's so lightweight.

Finally moved away from the 'gamer' office chair and got myself an actually decent office chair; the difference is mind-boggling. One day with this chair and I feel like there's absolutely no going back.

Currently editing the voice over track for the upcoming Phantasmagoria video, and to create the right mood setting, listening to Basshunter - DotA on loop.

The reason The Crow (1994) is the best movie ever made is that it's essentially a 90 minute Brandon Lee thirsttrap.

Enjoying some Oldschool Runescape music. "Ahhh, so good, the nostalgia, so warm and cozy, I could listen to this all day!" 😌 "Hmm, I wonder who composed it, let's look it up, see what else of notoriety the composer achieved in his life." ...... "Oh."

Just a little heads-up: Full English Closed Captions (subtitles) for the Pathologic 3 video are now finished and uploaded! 🙏 Apologies for the delay, I usually like to have them ready on launch, but this one took a good bit longer than expected. youtu.be/VSYLYJhZriY

Ordered a pair of 'heated socks' at aliexpress b/c I keep having frosty feet. Folks said "whoa, that sounds unsafe, they'll probably explode and set your feet on fire!" I said, ah come on, don't be dramatic, they're probably completely safe. They just arrived and this is what they put on the box:

This is literally the opposite of video game preservation; it's video game erasure, exactly what corpos get a raging boner for. Suck the marrow out of existing game & procedurally contort them into soulless abominations for conveyor-belt cash. While the games itself become obscure. Incredibly bleak.

Thrift success! Found an internal iOmega Zip drive (the 100MB variant) in really good condition with 5 (f-i-v-e) brand new zip disks for an astonishingly good price. Real excited to plug this into my Vintage. It's luckily with a perfectly matching beige front panel.

Just released a 28 minute video essay on 90s FMV games on Patreon, sharing a lot of general thoughts and feelings on this era of video games, and why the weird reputation it has these days is.. maligned and needs reconsideration. www.patreon.com/posts/122147... Video's in 4:3 btw; felt satisfying!

We finished Phantasmagoria 2 recently and had an absolute blast. And yes, it's not weirdly, but openly queer and surprisingly progressive for a mainstream game made in 1996. Plus: Trevor steals the show in every scene, impossible not to simp for this absolute queen.

I have this IBM Trackpoint mouse on my vintage computer, with the little nub (nipple) instead of a scrolling wheel (like in old IBM Thinkpad keyboards). Was a bit of a hassle to get the right drivers for Windows 95, but now that it works, it's *so fun* to use! Kinda bummed they got discontinued, ngl

For one, I love collecting these classics. For two, I do intend to include more "Let's take a look at the original box and all its contents" whenever I have it available when covering classic games in my videos. I got a few beauties lined up for this.

Just got my hands on the Limited Edition of Realms of the Haunting, for a good price, too. Real happy to have found this; except for this one bit of damage (the torn-off chunk at the top), it's in really good condition and contains all the contents in almost pristine condition.

It's popular for campfires & it's how coffee was often made in olden days. In a can, boiling water evaporates, steam "percolates" through the grind at the top and flows back into the chamber below when it cools. Coffee's very rich & the cup's bottom is covered in a thick "mud" that you don't drink.

I read this and thought "homeless people seek shelter, barricade doors and windows" thinking it means "help them escape the unsafe conditions during the hurricane." But eh.. no, it fucking means "barricade doors and windows so homeless people can't enter - let those worthless parasites die"

Michael and I have been playing a bunch of old FMV games together recently, and we just finished Phantasmagoria, a game I hadn't played in over 2 decades, and now I find myself trapped in an absolute writing-waterfall about this game. My good old overanalyze-muscle has been aggressively tickled.

My partner's been playing Inifinity Nikki & I've been joining in a lot. This game is a lot of fun & astounding in so many ways. But what absolutely knocks me away is how much of the gameplay and outfits feels like a massive, open world spiritual niece to Alice: Madness returns. No cap.

Got a few contenders for: but it IS a huge commitment and investment. One would be Fear & Hunger. Originally I planned to do one video per game, but we'll see, this would be perfect for a deep-dive through both games. Also one day I really want to do a megalong "Journey Through Silent Hill"🤔

The Amnesia video is performing really well, thank you for all the kind words. Also genuinely thankful that it got a good few new Patrons on board, it means a lot. The insanely high watch-time appears to be like catnip for YouTube's algorithm. I'd love to do this super-deep approach more often.✌️
