"There's no joke. You've been randomly drafted for the Werewolf Conservation Program," the taller agent says. There was no urgency, no mirth, nothing in his voice. Just facts.

"Am I allowed to know more then? Given I've been drafted for the program?" You forced out the words to stave off your impending panicked laughter. You couldn't let the feds see you like this, although you supposed they already caught you at your most vulnerable state. What more would the form of a panicked laughing and crying young adult add that they hadn't already seen?

There's a foot note for "young adult" that says "It felt wrong to call your age group 'young adult' That felt like a genre descriptor for teenagers, but you weren't quite middle-aged just yet. Not that the incongruity mattered, in the end.

The pair exchanged glances once again for a longer period, before turning back to you.

"We've come to the conclusion that it's only fair to give you a sense of what you're getting into," the woman agent says.

"Gee, you think?"

"Sir, we are not legally obligated to be polite to you, so please reconsider your language," the other agent says.

"I'm sorry that I brought you out here on the pretense of a discussion then," Amit replied, the corners of his mouth folding into a frown. "Because we do need to talk more about Asha. You're not alone in your Asha problem."

Kiran shook his head, unable to even stare at his friend, his gaze locked to the ground. "Don't I know it. Efe and Kamal have shared that she won't leave them alone either, and I take it the same is true for you?"

The monitor lizard grimaced. "She's strange. I would swear she was coming on to me, if it wasn't already patently obvious that she wasn't coming onto you as well."

"No, no, she's also coming onto you. The others confirmed the same for them. The Holy Maiden is trying any avenue she can, it seems." The prince grunted, his exposed body shaking with revulsion. He wore nothing other than a loincloth, as was traditional for the kind of sparring he was about to get to with Amit, the monitor lizard similarly adorned.

Amit shook his head, unwilling to accept the claim before him. "Did she think we wouldn't notice?"

"She thought we'd be into it, and not care about her attempts to court the whole court. Which to be fair, she's not entirely wrong about that," Kiran trailed off. He closed the distance, his hand reaching out to cup behind Amit's head, and pulled the lizard in for a kiss.

President Kamala laughs, mulling over the latest question. There's never been anything that she couldn't answer, but this one requires some tricky linguistic maneuvering. A quick laugh is all the buffer time she needs to formulate how to respond.

"The Werewolf Conservation Program? We're not quite expanding it, that would be incorrect to say."

"But what about whispers of their activity in Europe?" the reporter prompts. "There's been local reports of Werewolf spotting."

"Werewolves exist in other countries, not just our own. We don't claim responsibility globally. The Werewolf Conservation Program is our promise to our Werewolf citizens, not a global homecoming wish. We would never try to step on the toes of other nation's conservation efforts."

"So you haven't been doing anything in England? There are posts online about some badges being flashed."

Kamala blinks rapidly. "I can neither confirm nor deny whatever our agents do abroad, nor for what purpose, although you may make further inquests through the proper avenues and they'll be able to confirm what can be shared. What I can tell you is this: If another country asked for some assistance with their own conservation programs? We'd be more than willing to assist, for the good of all Werewolves globally."

She pauses, staring off to the side, seeing their exaggerated movements. "Now I see my team is telling me we have no further time for questions, apologies."

She waves and shuffles off, while the journalists whisper amongst themselves and start planning their expenditure documents for trips to Europe.
