Probably more serious about funding the British military than most of the political parties in this country.

They think European governments are weak and their populations unwilling to bear the costs of a long cold war I think part A is a lot less true than it was, B is still to be full tested, but it seems unlikely that Britain, France and Germany will all avoid electing a Putin sympathetic government

Still it was soft. I'm sure the amount of money the Manchester City's owners have poured into the pockets paying English refs to ref in their league has nothing to do with it

Gravenberch took a stupid shot, then got himself send off.

Blair dropped a fraud case against BAe to keep the Saudis on side.

The only deal left should be a slightly lesser punishment if they agree to sell.

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 9h
Manchester City are nearly out of road, the time for a deal to end it has passed

Idk, Johnson intervened to help Saudi buy Newcastle

CEO aren't going to stand for Manchester City, they aren't a big club this isn't like Manchester United or Liverpool being thrown out, it isn't even like Tottenham, Aston Villa or Everton.

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 9h
If Burnham intervenes I won't be voting Labour at the next election. Can't be big dogged by a sub nation of UAE

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 9h
I'm not sure it was a great strategy. Football historically has been very forgiving of financial corruption if clubs own up, or even part own up. Look at the various very leanent punishments Chelsea have received

They can throw them out or dock crazy amounts of points, I don't know how the Premier League and the EPL interact on this. A couple of years ago Leicester in part got away with their (much smaller) issues because they were out of the PL at the time of the judgement

Next time Saudi or UAE ask for military help, selling up should be part of the deal

I read the Premier League's quasi-legal process, appeals included, can't take more than about 3 more months. It's part of Manchester City's strategy to drag it out, another reason to hand out the max punishment The time it takes for clubs to sue doesn't matter as much

Also incredibly gameable, set up a website no one views, get AI to write a load of articles on a topic you want buried. Suddenly the regulator's limit is reached

They aren't good faith actors, there's no point trying to engage with them. Let's be clear, they want a press regulator with a similar world view to them with dictatorial power to silence media organisations. They would never accept this for a university regulator

There was a Channel 4 documentary about Orr, that's far more impactful than newspaper coverage

If more English speakers followed French politics they would be amazed at how a lot of French politicians speak about their former imperial territories, it on a different level to almost any political figure in Britain.

Yes, I don't think Corbyn or Polanski are clever men by the standards of a leading leading political figures. The the guy Corbyn replaced in his seat was a notoriously work shy bum. Corbyn got that seat through effort and commitment, not his sparkling mind.

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 17h
Yes, he's the PM of a country with a struggling economy that's been weak for about 15 years now. He can say whatever he wants by it will have consequences. Tbh I think he already shot his mouth off too much on half thought through stuff.
020
Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 17h
Yeah, Corbyn believed similar stuff to these people. His dishonesty was his claims to be more mainstream than he was, as we've seen post expulsion with his fury at Britain's support for Ukraine. Polanski is mainly a chancer, a quack to pro austerity lib dem to leftist. I don't believe he cares.

YP was never likely to work. These people need the structure of another organisation because they are arseholes that mainly enjoy fighting internal battles. A successful version of YP probably polls at sub 4% outside Corbyn's seat

That goal sums The Butcher up, far more interested in wrestling his opponent than what is happening with the ball

Odds on a Manchester City points deduction keeping Tottenham up?

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
The guy is a prick*, and I'd never advise anyone sign him but Richarlison is a good Premier League striker *He's actually on the mild end of the sort of characters De Zerbi likes to sign. His Marseille side was full of degenerate monsters

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Or, they could have signed the players they needed for a lot less. Or they could have not frozen out one of their better attacking players
100
Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Not signed enough slightly above average Premier League players for 85m plus?

He also wouldn't have attacked Iran, or Venezuela, or ramped up the trade restrictions on Cuba

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
It matters because is a lot of pressure being put on to give out a weak punishment.

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Ah, the history of the Labour Party arcs towards the comfort of opposition. You don't have to worry about economic growth on that side of the house. You can demand all the regulation and taxes on business you want.

Idk, I think the gulf won't be open until Trump is out of office. 28 to 29 isn't a lot of time for a big enough of a recovery. The Starmer - Reeves plans were a time bomb as it was

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Simple is better, if it's complex Sky and other broadcasters will attempt to ignore it
100
Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
So, I wouldn't be putting any money on Labour being re elected at the moment. Energy crises and their economic knock ons are not generally good for the government's popularity

Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Trump is just shitting himself because there's no realistic chance that the Gulf will reopen within the next year. He done fucked up, and he knows it

Growth, even, growths limiting would be a good thing
000
Rafferty @rafferty-bs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
No, it's too easy to blame the Treasury. They didn't come up with Starmer's growths limiting policies.
