Have you ever seen the inside of an airport CAT scanner? Now you have! In case you didn't know, these scanners use an x-ray source that rotates around the target with detectors on the opposite side. They allow constructing a 3D image and the different absorptions can be used to identify materials.

Just a small heads up regarding my github.com/FurryCoders/... program. FA got a new update today, and as usual they are doing testing in production! The webpages keep changing structure, so I can't release an update yet. I am really sorry for the inconvenience, but there is nothing I can do :(

#NFC2026 is over, time to go back home :'( Had a wonderful time and got to meet so many cute and sweet fluffs and spend time with my friends, it's definitely the best vacation each year ❤️ Photos are of the sweet Alius, adorable @zfursee.bsky.social, and fellow Italian CescoCat :3

Finally did some birdwatching with my telephoto lens yesterday after years of using it only for astrophotography, and it was so much fun! On top of our beautiful resident swans with their (almost adult) cygnets and the local ducks, there were also two cormorants and one young seagull!

Bonus scaaaaaary nighttime photographs 👻 I still prefer long exposures or normal lights to flash photography, especially outside, but it was fun to experiment :3 The last photo is not edited: using a flash at night with snow broke the automatic white balance and I decided to keep it like that :3

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 27/01/2026

Last photos! As I said earlier we only had the one sunny day with snow, but overcast doesn't mean bad photos :3 Need to nab someone with a fursuit next time it snows and take some pretty photos; landscapes are nice but it's more fun to take photos of cuties!

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 27/01/2026

Some more photos (this time normal ones) from the same snowy day as the previous post :3 I also took a lot of film photos, but my usual lab is moving so I gotta wait another week before I can get them developed x3

010

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 27/01/2026

Yeah, I was just about to say you should complain with the dutch government XD As someone who has also emigrated (to Denmark), I'd move sooner rather than later, it only gets harder to make that big jump :( (Not that I would ever want to move back to Italy, despite my family asking me about it XD)

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 27/01/2026

We had a lot of snow in Denmark two weeks ago, and thankfully we had one sunny day (yes, a single one x.x), so of course I took the morning off to take some snowy full spectrum photographs :3 They are all straight out of camera JPEGs with no editing, taken with the wonderful Sigma sd Quattro

It started green as you can see in the video above, and then after a few minutes it turned into this beautiful deep red glow swirling above us, with pillars forming and merging and dissipating as it moved across the sky.

Science time: the color of an aurora depends on the altitude of the gas that is excited. Green auroras are from oxygen between 100-300km, red auroras are also from oxygen but above 300km, and blue auroras are from nitrogen getting excited below 100km.

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 20/01/2026

There is an aurora over Denmark tonight! I don’t think I will ever tire of seeing it, it is simply majestic ❤️ Those “courtain” structures are tens to hundreds of kilometers tall and yet they move so quickly and gracefully. They are incredible to see in person. (The video is a 80sec photo lapse)

Tigers have round pupils. Jaguars have round pupils. Cheetahs have round pupils. Lions have round pupils. Pallas cats have round pupils. It's really only smaller felines that have slit pupils, because they are really only useful close to the ground.

000

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 24/12/2025

If you are interested you can contact me here, on Telegram, or via email! Links are in the website :) For film sessions it's best to ask at least a week in advance so I can order the film, but I will have some extra rolls with me at NFC so don't be afraid to ask during con time :)

000

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 22/12/2025

A note on prices: all shoots include editing of all photos, and for film they also include the cost of the rolls and development. The base prices are not fixed in stone, and I am more than happy to change them for special circumstances like short sessions :) And you can always book as a group!

000

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 22/12/2025

Good news! If you want film photos but don't want to spend as much money, I am now offering 35mm film as well! It's 90€ for a one hour-ish shoot with one roll (36 photos), 150€ for two rolls. That price includes the film, developing, and editing. (More info on costs in the original thread👇)

I am okay with taking photos both outside and inside the venues, though the latter will be limited based on how many people are around to avoid infringing on anyone's privacy and based on NFC's own rules and recommendations. Though if you have never been to Malmö before be prepared for the cold x3

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 02/12/2025

Some more info about the photoshoots: you can get both digital and film photos, even infrared if you want! Turnaround time is going to be a few days to a week for digital, and 10-15 days for film depending on how busy the lab is. NSFW shoots are 100% okay! Just tell me in advance :)

Announcement time! I will be at #NFC 2026, and available for photoshoots! Not sure how many people I will be able to accomodate since the program is not live yet, but you are welcome to reach out and we'll find a time once the con is closer! Info at foxphotos.dk #nordicfuzzcon #photography

And you may think that this method is a modern invention, but it is over 100 years old! It was pioneered by Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii who took color photographs of imperial Russia in the early 1900’s and they look incredible! Source commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Sergey_...

On more post on infrared film! With infrared (or any B/W) film you can easily create so called trichromes by taking a visible (or green-filtered) photo, a blue-filtered photo, and finally an infrared photo and combining them! The result are these wonderful photographs. #photography #infrared

Time to share more film photos! These are taken with Ektar 100 and Rollei Infrared 400. Ektar’s colors are amazing. Not as accurate as Portra or cozy as Gold, but great for landscapes! (And portraits but I can’t share those, sorry) Infrared film is so cool! Not easy to use but it looks amazing.

Almost forgot to share this beautiful artwork that @yulyeen.bsky.social drew for me at Refurrence! It's perfect ❤️

A drawing of a male anthropomorphic fox. He is standing in a forest, smiling as he gazes upward and to the side, out of the frame; the leaves on the trees and the ground are brown, red, and yellow. He is wearing autumn clothes: a brown coat, a red scarf, a blue sweater, and darker brown trousers. In his hands is a vintage film camera with a waist level viewfinder.

The artwork was drawn by @yulyeen.bsky.social.

After nearly 2 decades I have been getting back into film photography! Got a gorgeous Zenza Bronica ETRSi and I have been having so much fun with it! These tests photos were taken on Kodak Gold and Portra. The latter is crazy accurate, but I love Gold, it reminds me of scenes from Twin Peaks ❤️

Is it free now? Back when I was studying in Italy it was 100€ or so. Though I might be getting it confused with the cost of exams.

100

Matt 🔜 NFC @raev.gay · 19/11/2025

That's a thing in Europe too, when I was studying physics we had a 70-something classmate who followed lessons with us :) It's not free (except for countries like Denmark), but the cost is usually negligible, in Italy it is 50-100€ per semester.
