So I added a way to gain boost as a reward for diving fast and tight into corners! It's inspired by bullet hell games that have tension mechanics. I have therefore creatively called it Tension Boost. Careful: hit a wall, and you lose *all* of your boost gauge! #unity #unitydev #indiedev #gamedev

Got a basic item pickup system working over the network! As well as boosting and some speed lines 👀 Does anyone know how I can add some extra juice to the boost without it being too distracting? ^^ #unity #indiedev #gamedev

The game developer urge to implement highly complex and robust systems immediately versus the game designer urge to just make it work with nothing but sticks and tree resin
Sisyphus rolling the rock up the hill but another Sisyphus is pushing from the other side, too.

Oh, and here's a preview! Some who know me may recognise this project from early last year, but over the last 2 days I've rewritten the netcode for it from the ground up with Mirror and ported it to Unity 6. It's a 6-DOF spaceship racer. Think you can handle the ship at this speed? :3

Welp, I went to just over 11,000 words during the first self-proofread of Oracle, my longest "short" story yet. A lot of that was spent on making the ending more satisfying and detailed as it was mildly rushed. It'll be released on conflux.onl within a few days! #writing #worldbuilding
A screenshot from Firefox's reader mode of Oracle, reporting a read time between 56 and 71 minutes. There is a caption underneath that reads: "I will predict you."

FINALLY finished the first rough draft of the next instalment to Conflux. It's been in hiatus for a couple months, but I've sped through the last few thousand words over last night and today. It will now be proofread and edited a LOT. Should be coming soon... 🥺 #writing #worldbuilding #stories

Been doing some cooking 👀 I'm messing around with a third person platformer controller - the result of that state machine I mentioned yesterday! Wondering what I should do next with it... (im not an artist sadly - yet, at least - so nothing fancy!) #gamedev #godot #godotengine

Really liking the look of my state machine right now!! I do wonder if using composition for them instead of inheritance might come back to bite me somehow, but so far it all works,,, #godot #godotengine #gamedev
A Godot scene tree with a state machine setup. The states have component nodes that give them logic, instead of having logic themselves.

"your caller could not be connected, please check the number and try again" *looks down at my Atari Jaguar controller* ah shit I pressed X didn't I
The Atari Jaguar controller, with a standard D-pad and six-button layout at the top. However, the bottom of the controller has 12-digit number pad similar to a telephone.

Love looking into old console controllers since designers were still figuring out how to fit as many buttons as possible onto something you could still technically hold in your hands and coming up with ideas like the Rotund Disc
The SEGA Saturn 3D controller, which is a round disc with buttons laid onto it, with small handles stuck to the bottom.. An analogue stick sits above the D-pad on the left, with six action buttons on the right. A START button sits in the centre.
