Very moving tributes to the late Nick Powell today at the Pierhead in Cardiff. He was a much admired political journalist and a great NUJ colleague. We’ll miss his steady leadership and dry wit on the Welsh Executive Council. RIP Nick

Spending loads of time at WWT at the moment, immersing myself in the landscape. I’m trying to learn the different species on the scrapes, and on this visit I’m sure I spotted redshank and teal, lapwing and shelduck - beautiful sounding names that are bound to creep their way into the poems.

How I spent my Saturday: at BBC Central Square in Cardiff, chairing the NUJ’s Welsh Executive Council meeting (this photo from our last meeting, but the Dalek and Tardis are still there!) We talked public interest journalism, AI, newspaper redundancies and lots more #nuj #wales
