This fight isn’t over yet. While the end of the primary election cycle is here, this is also just the beginning of a new movement that’s taken shape in our city, because of you.

A truly democratic Los Angeles is one where the powers that shape the lives and futures of our neighbors includes the voices and perspectives of those neighbors, too. Power should belong to the people of Los Angeles.

Throughout this journey, one thing has been crystal clear: that Los Angeles is ready for real change — true transformation from a system run by the powerful few, for the benefit of the wealthy few.

Rev. Rae Huang @raeforla.com · 03/06/2026
I have walked all over our city, hearing stories about how our city can be so much more for our people — especially people whose voices have gone ignored for years. I was reminded of something powerful: Los Angeles is worth fighting for. Not because it is perfect, but because it is ours.

Rev. Rae Huang @raeforla.com · 03/06/2026
We met people where they were, with their hopes, frustrations, dreams, fears, and determination to build a better future. And we did this with limited resources, countless obstacles, and a truly grassroots, underdog campaign unlike anything LA has seen in decades.

Rev. Rae Huang @raeforla.com · 03/06/2026
For months, we walked the streets of Los Angeles together. We knocked on doors in the heat, stood on corners before sunrise, made calls late into the night, and carried conversations into every neighborhood of this city.

Since the beginning, our campaign had three goals: expand the electorate vote in Los Angeles, bring hope to this city that has experienced trauma after trauma, and build a coalition of regular Angelenos whose power reaches beyond one election. And we — you — did exactly that.

Before anything else, thank you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for believing in something bigger than this moment. Thank you for pouring your hearts into Los Angeles and our dream of a city that centers working people, first and foremost.

Somebody who provides a care-first solution to homelessness. Rae is the only candidate willing to transform the system from the ground up, instead of putting bandaids on crises that have become out of control. Vote Rae Huang for Mayor by June 2nd.

She states:

“I will direct LAPD to arrest ICE and any other agent or agency that violates our civil rights. I will ask our City Attorney to prosecute them. If anybody under my control collaborates with the fascists in Washington, DC, I will fire them.”

She would end contracts with surveillance technology companies like Flock, fire Police Chief McDonnell, and review LAPD’s entire data collection and surveillance apparatus before any Olympic security agreement goes into effect. She supports repealing 41.18 and broadly opposes policies relying on criminalization of homelessness.White background. Red Rae For LA logo. Public Safety Platform (cont.)
She supports expanding public and social housing, including housing reparations for Black Angelenos with a Housing Reparations Fund, a Right of Return policy for displaced families, and a Tribal First Right of Refusal policy for Indigenous land. She supports participatory budgeting through a two-year budget cycle with mandatory public engagement before budgets are drafted.

As part of her public safety platform, she says she wants to: create an ICE-free sanctuary city, defend digital privacy, build real community safety, adopt a care-first approach to behavioral health, plan for disaster response, establish extreme weather intelligence preparation, and stand up for animal welfare.

LA deserves a mayor who will fiercely protect its residents and combat the dangers related to public safety in the city. That means no cooperation with anybody that violates the rights of Angelenos. No tracking or surveillance. No LAPD assisting ICE.

Huang does not accept law enforcement, corporate, or PAC donations, and her campaign is entirely grassroots-funded.White background. Red Rae For LA logo. Background:
Rae Huang is an ordained Presbyterian minister and community organizer who has spent over 20 years building coalitions in Los Angeles. Through Housing NOW!, she led statewide campaigns that advanced tenant protections, including SB 567 and the nation-leading social housing study bill SB 555. She organized alongside workers through Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) and helped launch the Healthy LA Coalition, which delivered pandemic relief to families left behind by federal programs. She supported the Baldwin Park campaign that replaced the city’s 20-year mayor and council members with candidates committed to defunding their police department in 2020. She also co-started Westside Vision, the coalition that identified and launched Faizah Malik’s race against Traci Park in CD-11. This is her first run for office.
White background. Red Rae For LA logo. Public Safety Platform:
La Defensa is proud to endorse Rae Huang for Mayor of Los Angeles. Huang takes an explicitly abolitionist and care-first approach to public safety, arguing that LAPD has “defunded all other aspects of city services.” She supports redirecting funds from LAPD to build a centralized Department of Community Safety, a citywide network of behavioral health stabilization centers, and an academy to train and hire people with lived experience of mental health and addiction challenges as outreach workers. She would pilot safe injection sites, expand unarmed crisis response teams throughout the city, and open neighborhood clinics.

We all love our Olympians, but decision-making around the Olympics shouldn't be a closed-door deal between developers, the IOC, and city insiders. Vote Rae Huang for LA Mayor for transparency and advocacy for LA residents during the Olympic Games.
Olympic stadium. Text: With billions of dollars on the line for Angelenos, we need a Public Olympic Budget DashboardBlue cloud background. Text:

LA28 can be transformative for Los Angeles. The Olympics infrastructure is already leading to new transit, new jobs, global attention, and funding for our city. This money could be allocated to
* Olympic infrastructure investment in underserved neighborhoods
* Transit improvement that serve every day commuters year round - not just for tourists during the games
* Small business support programs to help vendors thrive during the games
* Affordable housing protections to prevent displacement
* Long-term community investment funded by Olympic revenue
This is the sort of Olympics that LA deserves - but this starts with knowing where our dollars are going. In other host cities - Olympic money has actually flowed away from residents and been pocketed by insiders, with policing surges, heavy displacement, cities left in crippling debt, and Olympic corruption. Past Olympic host cities (LA84, Salt Lake City, Rio, Tokyo) faced corruption scandals involving bribery, insider contracts, bid-rigging, or misuse of public funds. Not a single games since 1984 has turned a profit.

Examples: Rio cost $20 billion, Sydney went 90% over budget. The City of LA agreed to cover the first $270 million in losses if the Games run over budget. If costs significantly exceed expectations, public agencies and taxpayers could end up absorbing additional financial burdens. And LA28’s budget has already grown substantially since the original bid process while key reimbursement and cost-sharing agreements with the city remain unaddressed. This would directly cost LA residents.
