i'm really really fussy when it comes to my pen settings because i want a lot of line width but a lot of premade pens feel very binary and on/off which isn't natural to me. i usually land about here. all variation here is through pen pressure

i say 'may' here because they did a biopsy but the Scary Nodule is 6mm. it is straight up so small it's difficult to get a cell culture. the numbers work out as such that, statistically, it's probably NOT a cancer, but i still have to like. brace myself. 10 - 20% is not negligible

that is to say i have irons in the fire but my year could range from anywhere from 'entirely normal because i DON'T have cancer' to 'minor surgery' to 'drinking a concoction that will permanently kill my thyroid and dealing with that'. this is of course the enemy of the indie webcomic

text excerpt: The curtains whispered against the tiled floor, thick and plush enough to dull the sounds of merriment from the taverna. Laughter and lyre strumming, instruments played in an artless fashion, the same rote songs for the same dances for the same people, but received with jubilant shouts and whoops as if this was the first song ever heard. Few servants roamed the halls of the opulent House, and the shades Meri did see appeared either pleasantly tired or inebriated. The corners of her vision ran and smeared, like paint on wet wood, and bled into one another. The jewels spun and became slush, and the great mosaic of the House of Hades wobbled and swayed, folding softly upon itself like molten metal. Meri's tongue was dry, and her hands shook. She wondered if she had been drugged.

A feeling pulled her towards the far end of the House, where Father's chambers lay. When she approached the doors, grand marble made imposing by low torchlight that threw shadows like spears, a flicker caught her eye. A sconce, its flame wobbling in the feeble breeze. She followed it to a servant's chamber and an open door. The room was sparsely furnished. It contained some candles, a bed of reasonable comfort, a dresser and a loom. It would be entirely unremarkable, save for its sole resident. A woman of towering stature, made larger by her considerable hat and ornate garb, and reams of silver jewellery. The woman hummed her little tune, working the loom, toiling over a saffron square of fabric. Her voice was sweet, though aged and untrained. The singing stopped.

"Ah," she said, coolly. "I wondered when you'd deign to visit."
