I know I've become a real New Yorker because I find the sound of 1010 WINS deeply comforting.

OK hear me out. What if instead of maxxing all this stuff, we approached all things with some kind of like, moderation?

True Detective season 1 was just Twin Peaks but deadly self-serious, low contrast low saturation style, and let Windom Earle be the true big bad instead of Bob.

"Thanks I'd be happy to crash at yr warehouse punk space." Pops this thing open, pours hot water from my electric tea kettle in a cup of sleepytime tea, puts in earplugs "You can keep the party going , don't mind me, night night everyone" takes a sip, cracks open book, zips my bed tent closed.

OK, I realized since I live so close I could just run over there and ask. Tonight's 3-band bill at St Vitus, bands play at 7:30, 8:15, 9:15. Still pretty early but I like this timing.

The new St Vitus in Brooklyn lists "doors" for all shows as 6pm. Does anyone know when shows actually start? The usual one hour after doors seems too early., or do they have an early curfew?

I think a lot of people won't say this directly, but they love the idea of AI because they hate smart people, educated experts, and talented artists, and would love to see them all replaced by a service they can control.

If I died and became a ghost and could fly wherever I want, I'd definitely go to the moon. But I wouldn't try going to Mars or beyond because I'd be terrified of losing my way and being lost in space forever.

If you refuse to capitalize, expect every sentence written about your new album to read like gibberish.

Note that by these metrics, most album covers that make those "worst album covers" lists are actually pretty good.
000
Radio Shock @radioshock.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
A good album cover should be eye-catching, unique, easily recognizable, and should make you curious about the music and artist. This, for example, must be one of the best album covers of all time.
it's the cover of Sparks "Propaganda"

Heard that AI companies believe AGI is almost here. I was skeptical, but realized they're using a different definition than I think most ppl hold. They consider AGI "when a computer is at least as good at using computers as any human."

I got a pretty good answer over on Threads. Essentially dark matter particles would be too energetic for gravity to hold them that tightly, and without interacting much w normal particles & maybe even each other, they don't calm/cool down enough to settle into small clumps. They stay a big cloud.

Radio Shock @radioshock.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
A question for physicists or astrophysicists about dark matter. If it's particles, wouldn't it form planets or stars? But we could detect those, right? especially if they were part of our solar system. If it doesn't, why not? It must contribute to black holes though, no?

I have a cat who attacks strangers. Full on ATTACKS with scratches and bites. With just me (and roommate) he is feisty but gentle and even affectionate. But I can't have guests or a cat sitter! Has anyone ever gotten a cat like this used to other people?

Every billionaire could have retired with their first billion dollars & lived the rest of their life in extravagant luxury, as well as generously supporting charities or the arts if they like. Why do so many instead choose to keep hoarding & make themselves a giant problem for the rest of humanity?

Saw the new Spider-Man movie and it's great. If you like any superhero movies you'll love it. It nails all the fundamentals, delivers lots of everything you want to see, thrills chills spills, you'll laugh, you'll cry. Also: best Spider-Man costume, best Spider-Man action.

It was genuinely making me crazy trying to hold my records at an angle under the lamp and hoping I can find and decipher those. I haven't come across one with none yet!

I got tired of records that aren't clearly labeled with the side and/or speed so I bought a pack of these little stickers and label them myself. Should have started this long ago. Tapes that aren't even labeled w artists or album, I'm just writing straight on the shell w Sharpie.

Back in the day I had a strong brand loyalty to Maxell cassette tapes. They just seemed more reliable to me, and I guess I was right! I'm transferring some 30+ year old recordings and the tapes have held up perfectly.

This guy I pass in the park every day on a walk or run jumped up at my approach yesterday (running w headphones) trying to offer me something - I think making a "smoking" gesture & I made "no thanks" gesture but was confused. Then realized I was wearing this Flesh Narc T-shirt.

UFO or Die at CBGBs 1991. Just my absolute favorite everything here. Eye's guitar playing is fantastic. (kinda reminds me of Austin in Sediment Club) UFO or Die's album is amazing too, but different. Wish there was a studio recording of this set.

Here in the U.S. this is what I've always experienced. This last time I asked specifically, because I was getting a few at once. The usual "A little soreness in yr arm" is what I was told to expect. I was skeptical and correctly so, was wiped out, aches & pains etc. Sounds like Ireland does better.

Doctors could be a little more honest about how a vaccine will make you feel shitty. It convinces yr body you caught something & stages an immune response. You will feel bad! (probably just for 24-48 hrs) That's how it works. But usually they will only predict "a little soreness in yr arm."

There is a BRAND NEW Radio Shock song on this comp celebrating 10 yrs of underground NYC tiny venue Skinny Apartment! A huge collection of oddball outsider music & noise artist who've played there. Is my track too much of a normal rock song for this comp? 😬 Check it out & let me know!

The Brooklyn version of Backrooms is when you go into one of the 99 cent stores that has a tiny storefront but then it goes way further back than you thought and you get to the back and it opens into a whole second area focused on pots & pans or storage bins or rugs.

Trump really seems to believe the voter ID laws will help Republicans win elections. But Is that actually true? We know non-citizens are not actually voting, and when I picture the typical MAGA fan, I don't see someone who has a passport and knows where their birth certificate is.

AND final season is SO much better than what I expected at end of S4. They backtrack a bit on the big threat, but so we get the stuff we want from Stranger Things: 80s life, mystery solving, personal drama. Love where the characters are at now: competent & organized insurgent monster fighters.

Please no spoilers - but I did a rewatch of Stranger Things, finally into final season, and it is just so good. I know it is the most mainstream popular thing, but it is just solidly good at everything it aims to do, in a way so few things are, especially these streaming series.

People training new AI models admit they just get chatbots to do it
The next generation of AI models are meant to be trained by people paid to have conversations with them, but several of these workers have admitted to New Scientist that they simply get chatbots to do it instead. This "AI inbreeding" may reduce the power and usefulness of future models, warn experts

Just passed a guy on the sidewalk who was dressed like Shaggy. Note: if you wear an olive green v-neck shirt with brown pants, you will look like Shaggy, which is fine, but may not be your intent.
