Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 9hYou should try OneNote but it's only usable on Windows. I've been on Mac / Linux since 2013 and only recently started using Windows again (gaming and Apple stuff just breaks constantly). 120
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 9hYeah I'm paper first. But technical things, those I need in grepable form and sometimes to share so they're in markdown. Prefer paper, those Oxford 5mm square pads rock. Started coding on them (6510 assembly) in the early 90s and never looked back. 020
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 9hI write markdown files and store them in git repos. But 20 years ago there was a magic time when we had OneNote which worked. This was before all the cloud crap was pushed down our throats (like the foei gras geese we are to them). Best "take notes from things I do on computer" tool. Sucks now :( 020

Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 11hI cannot understand why, after such a long time, this march is even still a thing. Aren't all the people who gived a rat's arse dead already? 010
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 11hPalm Pilot + Office 2000 were the peak and the last time anything involving calendars and note taking just worked. You had to learn to write in the Palm shorthand (grafitti) but once you did it was faster than modern smartphones (if you could spell). 120

Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 11hIsn't it smarter from a protectionist stand point to cut EV imports and allow hybrid? Then strengthen the emissions bands hybrids are treated as petrol cars? 000
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 11hWhy are we getting China to cut HYBRID exports to the EU? It's a dead tech, everyone is moving to electric and the Chinese make the best and best value EVs in the world. This looks like a red herring China could throw away to leave the EVs unchallenged. www.theguardian.com/business/202...theguardian.comChina agrees to ‘halve’ hybrid car exports to EU in landmark dealBrussels says Beijing’s shipments could fall by more than half over four years, cutting millions of vehicles amid fears for European jobs 100

Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 11hEverything about Trump reminds me of an exclusive 5* hotel in Sidmouth where my wealth old relatives used to stage occasional family events. Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026That and I have enough self-control (most of the time) to think strategically and not emotionally. You seem to have more of a "point of the spear" personality. Which I respect. Progress doesn't happen without the vanguard. 000
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Oh wait you're the Professor who said what we were all thinking about that Christian Nationalist loony in the US? 🤣 Look, I'm someone who grew up in an evangelical-adjacent fundamentalist Christian milieu. Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I'm not telling the kids anything? I quote-replied someone whose profile says that she's a professor who studies/specialises in protests with a slightly random thought on them? 100
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026...I made a comment looking three or four steps further, it's fine if you don't want to engage / think / talk about that. Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Yes that's how police forces through the West react to protests from the left. They've always been like that because they're fundamentally fascists. That's why the coddle the far-right, the farmers and rent-a-mob... 200
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I organised and did my bit in protests in the 90s and 00s (around football clubs) and this is exactly what we did. Lower stakes sure but cut a lot of complains coming from older generations. 100
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Reframes the story, changes the narrative. Especially if it's done by the protest organisation not the government or pigs chasing people down for vandalism. The best bit - it makes the farmers look like the assholes they are - as they make the most mess, get their own way, and never clean up. 000
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Because if you check the right-wing (or centralist) papers, they're always complaining about the "clean-up costs for graffiti". This protest is about getting money for education. Clean-up afterwards (when the schools have the money) and it neuters any spin attempts. 200
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I've changed my view on forced sterilisation. People like this should not be able to reproduce, both for their kids as for future generations. 000
Ryan @radicalbyte.bsky.social · 08/10/2026After all this is over, they should get the kids to clean it off. Spray paint is very very easy to remove but if there's one thing politicians like it's paying firms 100x as much as they should to remove it. Win. Then clean up any temporary markings. De-fangs the opposition. 100
