Hey guys I just wanna throw out there that the whole "treating other artists like competition/rivals thing" isn't welcome or wanted here. Your friends are not your competition. They're your FRIENDS. Learn from each other. The greatest strength we have as artists is community. Support each other. 💙✨

i'm currently deep in my witch hat atelier hyperfixation, so i made an illustration featuring coco, qifrey, richeh, agott, and tetia. done on procreate 💚💙💜💖✍️

digital anime style illustration featuring coco (short straight green hair, gold eyes, white skin, white dress) holding a piece of paper with a fire spell written on it. floating next to her, coming from the fire spell, is qifrey (short white hair, blue eyes, white skin, gold and black glasses, black and white wizard robes, white pointed witch cap with a long black ribbon), richeh (long straight blue hair, blue eyes, white slin, white dress), agott (short curly dark purple hair, purple eyes, white skin, white dress), and tetia (long curly pink hair with twin pigtails, pink eyes, white skin, white dress). fanart of the anime witch hat atelier.

old art, a commission i did for a friend in 2021 i think. she wanted a portrait of herself with monarchs in her afro. 🦋

digital painting of a bust portrait of a young black woman with a large brown afro, with a flock of monarch butterflies in her hair, and wearing an orange shirt. orange and brown color palette with right side rim light.

i have made a resolution to keep drawing, as A/I will not and cannot take away the years of practice, and i refuse to let it take away my spirit. anyways, a long winded way of saying i'm trying to come back, i do miss my friends and i still want to share my art. thanks for reading 💜

but i am slowly coming back to drawing. i feel myself slowly pulling out of burnout, and instead this time around i will be gentler on my mind and body and post when i want, not when i have to. (cont)

i also felt lost and defeated at the rise of a/i and seeing creative jobs being replaced one by one. it felt like my dream of working in animation was being shattered before my eyes. even now, i still feel sort of hopeless. (cont)

rachel ✿ digital artist @rachemug.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

at the same time, i was rapidly approaching burn out from trying to keep myself on such a strict schdule. the last thing big thing i did was doing an online character design class with a fantastic teacher at the end of 2024. unfortunately, it solidified the burn out. (cont)

rachel ✿ digital artist @rachemug.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

it slowly started to feel less like making and posting art i made and rather posting content. i felt a disconnect with the stuff i made and posted. i wasn't making art because i wanted to, it was because i had to. (cont)

when i hit 1,000 followers (on instagram) i became overwhelmed. i know that may not be a lot of followers in the grand scheme of things, but it felt like a lot to me. i kept myself a strict schedule of art and posting. (cont)

hello everyone. it has been awhile since i have posted. those of you who have stayed thank you for sticking with me, for those who have left thank you for sharing some of your time with me, and those who are new, welcome in. 💜 why did i leave? honestly, i became burnt out and very anxious. (cont)
