"Women ... we're angry about everything" -- except Yaga

Rachel Talalay @racheltalalay.com · 19/09/2026

yes, it's a bit obscure without the reference which is not exactly obvious for the GO audience - being a kids movie - but perfectly positioned for The Book of Life. delightful mashup

It was really a blast to work on Yaga. So thrilled it's having a TIFF premiere. We did some crazy scenes. The actors were all in for the insanity

love me a good mash-up. this is hilarious.

to do in LA if you can't be seeing Yaga at TIFF.

that a super easter egg, I guess.

yes, I carefully positioned it in that shot! subtle but now I can say that.

It is really surprising to me how many people have told me that they watched Freddy's Dead when they were 8/9/10 years old. I am wondering - were you horror fans, were you sneaking around, did your parents decide it was ok? How does that happen? Videos just lying around?

Rachel Talalay @racheltalalay.com · 15/09/2026

Actually it was for sale in Till's, I just made it more prominent.

It might have been something Michael Ralph added -- he did do a bit of dressing. I checked my recce photos but I don't have anything inside except this. That's DoP Gavin Finney's sister's book.

I see on Insta a lot of questions about shoes/coat. Yes we were in Scotland in the winter and the sets were cold. Sometimes very cold. David is wearing comfy boots for rehearsal and the white/blue are shoe protectors to keep the white floor clean. The crew wore them. Unromantic, uncreative answer

I saw this headline and I went digging for Milly Alcock's 'bizarre' comments only to find that she was calling out the abuse she was taking for playing the role. Just calling that 'bizarre' is doubling down on the attacks. It hurt my soul to read that.

We were all disappointed we couldn't have the six episodes. Difficult choices were made. We made them with love and respect.

I know some people find that frustrating, but I think there’s something really special about a story trusting its audience enough to leave a few doors open. In a way, it lets the characters keep living in our minds instead of closing the book on them completely. 🩷✨ (just my opinion btw x)

For me, that’s part of why I love the ending so much. Nothing is definitively confirmed, everyone gets to hold onto the version that feels right to them. Whatever you believe happened, there will forever be space for our own imaginations, hopes, and interpretations.

Last ice cream treat: For the shot where Crowley chucks away the ice creams, on take 1, the ice cream came out of one of the cones and hit him on the neck/back. I don't have the footage but here are some screenshots. Quite the surprise.

Someone on twitter wrote a really well reasoned post explaining my comment -- I do not feel unsafe because people don't like the finale, were upset by the ending, or have many interesting responses. I feel unsafe because of threats against me, my family, and vile things said about my loss.

In #Pressure, the movie, why do Stagg and Krick shake hands with their left hands at the end? Was the shot reversed or was there some significance?
