📢 Research opportunity for students and recent graduates Colleagues at Lancaster University are recruiting neurodivergent students and recent graduates of UK business schools to join a co-researcher advisory group. 🔗 linktr.ee/standpoint #EconSky #Research #Neurodiversity
Recruitment poster for a research advisory group. The poster asks: "Are you neurodivergent?" and invites people who are self-identifying or professionally identified, and who are current students or recent graduates of a UK business school (e.g. bachelor's, master's, MBA, or PhD), to help shape what a neuroinclusive business school could be. Participants are invited to join as co-researchers in a small advisory group alongside neurodivergent staff and students from across the UK. A QR code and the link https://linktr.ee/standpoint are provided to register interest. Logos at the bottom include the North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership, UKRI Economic and Social Research Council, Lancaster University, and The John and Lorna Wing Foundation, along with ethics approval and open access information.

Enjoyed chairing the Scottish Economic Society session on "Work Quality in Polarised Times" at #IEA2026 today. Excellent talks from Birthe Larsen, Johanna Rickne and Golo Henseke on workplace sexual harassment, academic careers and working time quality. #EconSky

Operation Health! at the British Academy Festival of Ideas. Participants explored NHS resource allocation in 1974, discovering that similar outcomes could emerge from very different levels of provision, but with different trade-offs. @britishacademy.bsky.social heal-researchhub.github.io/nhs-74/

If someone paid you not to work, would your health get better or worse? The UK furlough scheme created a natural experiment to ask whether the health effects of work withdrawal depend on occupational meaningfulness—a new angle on Graeber's "bullshit jobs." watttheecon.substack.com/p/bullshit-j...

Incentives to reproduce and replicate articles are so bad. Even when your comment leads to the retraction of a PLOS One article, the reward is a (10 days late) email with a thank you at the bottom. Retraction notice: journals.plos.org/plosone/arti.... But we are not complaining about PLOS One 🧵

📢 New report out today! 📢 ➡️ Access the report here: repec-cepeo.ucl.ac.uk/cepeow/cepeo... 📊 What did we find? 🔸 Most of the socio-economic background (SEB) and ethnic inequalities in entry to professional occupations are driven by employer-side decisions made during the recruitment process

Thrilled to see this published. I had the chance to be involved in the AI Replication Games, and it was such a fun + thoughtful collaboration. Big thanks to @i4replication.bsky.social for creating opportunities like this and building a great community around replication research.
