I’m not saying the work is perfect. But I think there’s a lesson in that too. I hope I can emulate Carson‘s willingness to make new mistakes, to take new chances. i’m grateful to her for helping me think about how the distant past can root us in the mythic present.

She really helped me think about history as somebody else’s present. The Keats book turned my brain inside out when I was young. And Economy of the Unlost expanded my understanding of what a book could do.

There are a lot of lessons I take from my early obsession with Carson‘s work, lessons having to do with collapsing the past and present, with literature and translation and fragmentation as tools of that collapse.

I don’t know man, I’m just so happy about the Anne Carson Noble. Her work has had such a profound influence on so many of us, and I don’t think we talk about it enough.

Highly recommend it for your TBR and courses! It’s about climbing of course but also about how we engage language, the mind, the earth, our bodies. It’s beautiful 💎 bookshop.org/p/books/erra...

The transactional system of education to which grades are central is the chief barrier to student learning. Anything that undermines it is worth doing. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/colu...

Tonight @professordemerita.bsky.social & I shared first pages from our collaborative Mary Shelley universe novel-in-process at the fabulous bicentennial conference for The Last Man organized by @eileenmhunt.bsky.social & I think all of this is very norm-core & not nerdy at all 🖤🖤🖤🖤

Mine is “OK” vs “okay” which is just not the same and technically correct but shouldn’t be… I usually let it go but sometimes I am like, OK has lore that okay could never understand!!!!
