When Sen. Hirono asked Hegseth if he would carry out an order to shoot protestors, he dodged the question. In addition to the sexual assault allegations, drinking on the job, and ties to white nationalism, Hegseth doesn’t believe in the first amendment. This is disqualifying.

The victims and survivors of the shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison will carry this trauma for the rest of their lives. Every elected official who voted against gun violence prevention legislation is complicit. Our children deserve action, not empty thoughts and prayers.

When my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer, he needed emergency surgery to remove the brain tumor. But our insurance refused to cover the six-figure cost because it “wasn’t necessary.” The surgeon suggested we go to the ER and *fake headaches* so insurance would cover his lifesaving brain surgery.
