She should have retired She should be doing as she wishes She should be just Gran to a grown-up grandchild But she’s not She’s stepping in — again — filling the gaps where others should be Not out of duty Out of love Out of fear of what happens if she doesn’t 🪡
a woman with blonde hair sitting in a chair, wearing a yellow long-sleeved top and a wristwatch. She is leaning forward, covering her face with one hand in a gesture of fatigue or stress. Behind her is a staircase, and in the foreground is part of a patchwork blanket.

Below the image is text reading:

“#UnpaidCarer
She’s not asleep. She’s not resting. She’s pausing — mid-thought, mid-worry, mid-exhaustion.
This is what care looks like when no one is watching.”

To every MP voting on PIP today: Have you ever filled in the forms? Measured your life in metres and checkboxes? Been told your pain doesn’t count — because you smiled? If not, ask yourself this: Do you really understand what you’re about to vote on? @teamlabouruk.bsky.social

Is the real reason @rightmove doesn’t have accessibility filters - because there are so few accessible homes for younger disabled people, it’s easier to hide that? Add the filters Show the reality Maybe then the government & developers would start taking access seriously

#carersweek Are unpaid carers really close to governments heart as Liz Kendall claimed this week.
Man with head in hands looking exhausted sitting on toilet lid in disabled toilet (in hospital) with his heart glowing through his jumper and the words “care is close to our hearts, but it shouldn’t cost us everything” #unpaidcarers #carersweek

#Unpaidcarerreality
Picture of woman with all the things she has to fight for as a carer to a disabled child. Fighting for rest, education, medical help. All she does advocacy, admin. Living in fear benefit cuts, poverty. The constant battles exhausting her and she has no time for herself, so wondering when she has time to sit down and have a cup of tea in peace

An unpaid carer is never off duty, hour after hour, year after year
The image is of a carer in the middle of a clock, she represents the clock hands, she looks exhausted. All around the clock at different hours are images that represent her caring role, cleaning, transport, night care, lifting, bathing, feeding. Illustrating that an unpaid carer is never off duty and works around the clock

Thanks to @joshhalliday.bsky.social for reporting on our story. A change of environment to a hospital rather than your home doesn’t mean your caring responsibilities disappear, they actually increase. Carers allowance (& PIP) should not stop when in hospital, as we are still there, still caring
