Yes, I did go to a bobblehead workshop at my local ceramics studio and make a Pipunculidae, thanks for asking. Confusing the other studio-goers and making them learn about nice insects is what fuels me in these dark times.

I painted this in 2022 for the lab. I really should paint a new one.

Happy Earth Day except @ucf.bsky.social has just bulldozed site 2 on this map and then is moving onto site 1. This area by the way, is home to 3 different habitats, 5 endangered plants, and a minimum of 29 potentially inhabited gopher tortoise burrows. For a sports complex... tinyurl.com/54vurj8p

I am more proud of this flea that I hand-stitched than anything I've done during my PhD.
A crudely hand-stitched flea made of felt and embroidery thread.

Ceramic jumping bristletail (Order Archaeognatha/Microcoryphia). They were really common in California but really rare here in Florida.

I started painting during Covid because I was broke and wanted to be able to make gifts for people for special occasions. Finished this pretty ambitious piece last week for my friend Ella's baby shower/bday celebration. Fish are hard to paint.

I have returned from my academic burnout-induced hiatus to bring you two ceramic bugs that I have made. The next one, which is hopefully out of the kiln this evening, is a jumping bristletail. The more niche the better
