Now that we have "Isaias", you may be seeing the forecast cone online. This is a reminder that the cone forecasts only where the *center* of a storm may go. Isaias spans for hundreds of miles. Maryland isn't expecting a direct hit, but it still looks likely we'll feel some impact

Up early on Tuesday 10/6? You may be able to see Jupiter pass behind the moon in what's called a "lunar occultation". Jupiter rises close to the moon in the east around 2:45 am. You can see the two cross over from about 3:30 to 6:00 am. It'll be more difficult to see as the skies brighten.

Tropics check: A tropical storm & tropical depression are in the Atlantic but neither is a threat to the East Coast ZERO hurricanes in the Atlantic so far. A strong El Nino is to thank for a quieter season. Sep 28 is the avg. (averaged b/t 1991-2020) date for the 5th Atlantic hurricane to form.

Sunday was our second wettest day at BWI for the year so far. The first? That big snow (/sleet/ice) storm from late January! @cbsnewsbaltimore.bsky.social

1.3 inches was reported at Baltimore Washington International Airport on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026. This was the second highest precipitation report of 2026 so far, after January 25. The January 25 total was 1.77 inches of liquid equivalent to the snow/sleet/ice that fell on that day.
