This doesn't do it for me. I like slow burn slice of life games, within an OSR system, typically. I feel like even with these hedges it presents this as a one size fits MOST solution for encounter design I don't really vibe with. Playing through gamey scenarios begets gamey, kinda mercenary PCs imo.

Yeah, this is also GENERALLY a good one. I don't like that it presumes that characters are like... little agents trying to constantly accomplish goals, but people, even crazy ass people, typically do things for some semblance of reason. That said, subversions and vermiscilitude of are good!

I dunno, I think this is a decent one typically, with the giant caveat that, if you are designing for that in advance, so MAY also be pushing the players into certain playstyles with more sticks than carrots based on presumptions about how they OUGHT to want to play.
