I’ve been meaning to watch more of the recent show, whose art style I would describe as “That’s a lot of fun.”

Glanced at the early reviews for Control Resonant and Silent Hill townfall and the vibes for both continue to look tremendous and how am I going to make it through this week alive.

It took me a while, but I finally mostly reached the point of realizing most people are way too in their own heads to really even think about me 99.5% of the time. And that’s a thought that makes it easier to just lead with myself and hope they’re generally good with that.

So, that's why I was kind of surprised to hear that there were some people incredibly pessimistic about the Resident Evil movie because it wasn't literally just re-telling the canonized events. Shit, give me a movie that puts *me* in the world of Resident Evil without a script. That sounds wild.

The most exciting version of Silent Hill to me is the current version, where Silent Hill can be anywhere in anybody's lived experience. I don't want to play 10 games in the same foggy town. I want to play 10 games of the world around a traumatized character contorting itself to be a maze of fog.

(No disrespect to BioShock 2.)

When an author is able to strip the series down to its core elements and rebuild from the ground up in a way that stays true to those elements? That's transformative. It cements the series as more than just its surface elements. There's a reason BioShock Infinite felt more like BioShock than 2 did.

Kind of perplexed by the push-back to the new Resident Evil movie and last year's Silent Hill f video game from portions of each fan base. Like, I understand justifiable skepticism that an "interpretation" of a beloved series will ultimately be just slapping the name on an unrelated product, but...

My *guess* is that they're using LLMs in the coding stage and/or in their like overall office suite. Just based on the framing and explicitly describing their usage as allowing the team to focus on creative tasks. But reeeaaaally gonna need them to clarify what they mean.

State of Play had me fed, and then Summer Games Fest was basically for @viafinalfantasy.bsky.social and then today's XBox Games Showcase was specifically for @cyuni.bsky.social. We are THRIVING out here.

Having put a full 120 seconds of thought into this... as long as it's just using his likeness, I'm good with it. If they do the A.I. voice nonsense, the vibes are dead.

There's a fair amount of Hitman Absolution in 007 First Light, so I'll be interested once I'm done to interrogate why the latter just kinda feels more joyful than the former.

Not only was Until Dawn not really an adaptation beyond 2-3 nods to the video game, but it was also just kinda bad...? Maybe they felt those two things canceled each other out?

000

rabo1621 @rabo1621.bsky.social · 17/11/2025

Twisted Metal has been consistently fun, if at times uneven. Until Dawn getting a nomination is genuinely hilarious.

110

rabo1621 @rabo1621.bsky.social · 17/11/2025

I think one of the reasons I'd be down for expanding the field is you lose a bit of genre diversity when you have two games like Hades II and Silksong - both individually unquestionably worthy nominees that arguably occupy similar space - in the same cycle. There are enough great games to go to 10.
