I have loved October for as long as I can remember. Hoodie weather, moody music. Moreso now. It starts with our wedding anniversary (10-1-2022). James’ birthday is this weekend. Mine is in three weeks. Halloween (aka Best Holiday) wraps up the month-long celebrations. All hail King October!

I studied South African history and literature, so regularly encountered stories of mailbombs. The experiences found a place to live in a dark, quiet corner of my subconscious. When I get emails like this, some folks think it's spam / phishing. I wonder if it's a political enemy.

Went on a bike ride in LaBagh Woods and saw these friends having dinner. They did not invite me to join them. Not wanting to make it awkward, I moved on and left them to their meal. The Cook County Forest Preserves are a treasure.

In honor of Dolly Parton's passing, I reckoned that support for her Imagination Library would be better received in the place I was born: the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Giving donors a choice on geography is really thoughtful. Also, that thank you message written in the first person... oof. :(

MacOS 26.7 breaks Apple Music. :( I upgraded two Macs to 26.7. Apple Music stopped working on both. The Mac still on 26.6x runs the app without any problem.

@theresthistory.bsky.social has done a tremendous series on the Troubles of Northern Ireland. To get a frame of reference for their geography, I used Chicago as Belfast. The comparison made me a bit sad. I would like to drive past Joliet and be in the Republic of Ireland. :(

In Albuquerque, I’d have to carry my then doggo to the park if we went after 10a; otherwise, the pavement was a skillet. It’s weird to have the same problem in Chicago (said doggo at the University of New Mexico golf course slash dog park on a beautiful May evening).
