Contributor: What if we stopped trying to be right?
Rosh Hashanah arrives each year with an unfashionable proposition, asking us not merely to examine those who have disappointed us, but to examine ourselves.

Friends, I just released a new book, which I have worked on for years, that includes 3 rounds of moral & theological commentaries for each parsha! For those who read along with me, I look forward to hearing your insights on how we can spiritually renew the ethical power of Torah again in our time!

A grocery store cashier quietly paid for an elderly man’s food after his card was declined. No cameras. No speech. No posting about it afterward. Just dignity protected in a difficult moment. The world changes through moments like these far more than through outrage or noise.

Iran conflict shows there is no such thing as a distant war — for anyone
So often, when we in the U.S. debate a war, we omit much of the globe from the conversation: We do not talk about (or to) rice farmers in Asia or soda vendors in Kenya when discussing the cost of a wa...

As Abrahamic faiths fast, let us consider food ethics
What is shared between three Abrahamic traditions — Islam, Christianity and Judaism — is the idea that food is never just simply food.

We read the 10 Commandments in the parsha last week that reminded us to consider "the stranger" when we keep Shabbos & we say it in kiddish! So, yes we should daven, have nice meals, sing, read, rest, but to keep Shabbos we MUST think morally about those who are the most vulnerable in our society!

ICE should leave because we thrive on trust, dignity, & the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe at home. By striking fear, they fracture families, silence neighbors, and push people into shadows—hurting immigrants, schools, workplaces, & public safety for all

Today I stood with a group of good people showing up for immigrants, because our history teaches us what happens when people are dehumanized and borders are used as weapons. We rallied to say that safety, dignity, and belonging are human rights—not privileges.

As workplace deaths from heat increase, OSHA will now debate the future of the first federal rules to protect workers from extreme heat. We can't let this administration (and the businesses pushing it) to win out over workers who desperately need protections from very dangerous work conditions.

Out of the Ashes Came Light! We just received a Torah! But not just any Torah but one saved from the ashes in Romania where it was desecrated by the Nazis & it was in terrible shape. It was flown to Israel and refurbished and then brought to the States & last night it was flown here to the desert.
