Used to write about music for a living (Alternative Press, Melody Maker, Record Collector, XLR8R). Currently working in mental health but also writing an epic essay about the power of The Microphones and Cassandra Jenkins (which may never be published).

Slightly randomly rediscovered Susumu Yokota's albums at the weekend (while tidying) - hadn't played in an age and had forgotten how beautiful and beguiling they were. Missed there'd been a retrospective - a lovely, insightful @philipsherburne.bsky.social review here: pitchfork.com/reviews/albu...

A first, tentative stab at a track list for a Montgolfier Brothers collection (without looking at the track listing for the actual forthcoming one on Needle Mythology). open.spotify.com/playlist/1jR... Wine was involved.

FYI: PIP (Personal Independence Payments) is not an out-of-work benefit. It exists to help people pay for the extra costs that come with disability. Cutting disability benefits won’t help people who are already working, and it won’t help people back into work.

Sunday: Got up early, read this post. Switched off my phone. Put on the radio. A panel of experts in the field were debating whether or not pets go to heaven. Turned off the radio and went to queue up in the rain at the supermarket half an hour before it opened.
