A clear and concise visualization comparing where supporters of either party stand on seven electorial and representational reforms, as well as the shortfall in how closely the incumbents' votes reflect the will of their constituents
THE DEMOCRATIC DEFICIT .
U.S. CONGRESS, 119TH
This is what Americans say they want. Here is where Congress stands.
Seven good-government reforms, each backed by a majority of both parties' voters. For each party, the pale bar is the share of that party's voters who support the reform; the solid bar is the share of that party's members of Congress on record backing a bill. All four bars share one scale, so the shortfall compares directly across parties.

Voter support: national polls, 2022-2026, by party (U. of Maryland PPC; Verasight/Brennan Center; Emerson/RealClear/Unite America; Noble Predictive/Common Cause). Advocacy sponsors named where applicable. Congress support: Project Curia scoring of all 535 current members against the bills carrying each reform in the 119th Congress, incl. discharge petitions. Independents omitted: only 3 members. Foreign-lobbying & cool-off scored vs. their last introduced vehicles,

Someone derided me for the lack of a response. I could try to respond directly to their thread, but there are two problems: 1. Only her followers can comment. I am not about to follow them just to defend myself. 2. Any attempt to explain myself there can be warped and twisted by them blocking me

There is no way in hell the location and date (yesterday, June 4th) of this military exercise were chosen randomly. Everyday for 3 weeks after the election, workers are processing and counting ballots flown/trucked in from all over the county at the old Fry's—same city. This is voter intimidation.

"A minute standing up is worth more than a lifetime on your knees."
José Marti
Havana, Cuba, January 28, 1853 - Dos Rios, Cuba, May 19, 1895
... whose words forged the Cuban national identity and whose death in combat cemented his place as the Apostle of the Homeland.
At the age of 16, he suffered political imprisonment where he wrote his famous poem to his mother about the need for sacrifice "think that flowers are born among thorns." He was deported to Spain graduated in Civil Law and Philosophy and Letters. After living in several countries as a where he teacher, writer, and journalist, he arrived in New York where he served as consul of Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, and translated many great literary works into Spanish. It was there that he published his iconic work for children, La Edad de Oro (The Golden Age) and the newspaper Patria, beginning the difficult task of unifying the Cuban exiles, ...
On March 25, 1895, Marti together with General Máximo Gómez signed the Montecristi Manifesto north of Santo Domingo, thereafter, entering Cuba on April 11 and meeting with Gen Antonio Maceo on May 5. He rejected requests to refrain from participating in the military campaigns since he was a writer, not a soldier. But Martí insisted on setting an example and participating on the battlefield despite understanding, as his works indicate, that he sensed that his death was imminent. Two weeks later, on May 19th, he would be killed in combat at Dos Rios, when leading a charge against the enemy. His heroic death, as well as his ideas and words as a leader and writer, were and continue to be the engine of Cuban consciousness. The independence of the nation is today marked by the day after his death, May 20th.

In Raleigh, NC, sidewalks end abruptly, just like in New Orleans. Drivers don't yield to cyclists, and cyclists don't yield to pedestrians. It's Darwinism (specifically, intraspecific competition) all the way up out there on the road.

In Atlanta, drivers don't give 2 sh*ts about crosswalks. Right turns on 🟢 routinely disregard crossing ped safety. Cars turning left on 🟢 don't wait in their lane—drivers enter & start turning so that their headlights would brush against pedestrians' legs (“Clear the crosswalk or I'll run you down”)

Signage is meant to clarify and direct, not overwhelm and distract. Visitors, e.g. the couple here, have to spend far too much time backtracking and navigating this space. Not pictured is the pilot who went back and forth between platforms (ducked into mine a few times) due to confusion.

I love when a plan comes together despite the wrath of the NIMBYs More homes planned ahead by other First Nations!
The subtext is as unmissable as a skyscraper: Indigenous culture and urban life—let alone urban development—don’t mix. That response isn’t confined to Sen̓áḵw, either. On Vancouver’s west side, the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations—through a joint partnership called MST Development Corp.—are planning a 12-tower development called the Heather Lands. In 2022, city councillor Colleen Hardwick said of that project, “How do you reconcile Indigenous ways of being with 18-storey high-rises?” (Hardwick, it goes without saying, is not Indigenous.) MST is also planning an even bigger development, called Iy̓álmexw in the Squamish language and ʔəy̓alməxʷ in Halkomelem. Better known as Jericho Lands, it will include 13,000 new homes on a 90-acre site. At a city council meeting this January, a stream of non-Indigenous residents turned up to oppose it.
