Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness: Releasing a mere six months after its predecessor, this OST reuses a lot from that game and adds to it a little. As a result, many tracks are again somewhat spare. It does add a welcome version of Sinking Old Sanctuary, making it my automatic favorite track. #CVSOTM

Castlevania (N64): I played this on my friend's rental for a couple hours. I am just now learning what the OST has to offer. I gave it a fair listen but it's mostly incidental music, making this a tough one in a new sense. It's Invisible Sorrow for being one of the few melodic tracks... #CVSOTM

Castlevania Legends: Also known as Dark Night Prelude, possibly following the musical naming scheme that SOTN (aka Nocturne in the Moonlight) began, this one featured Alucard in the plot but got decanonized. Competent compositions here for the Game Boy, my fave being Clock Tower of Darkness. #CVSOTM

Shattered Legends has caught my attention! My FFXIV Free Company co-leader Willow is a big Critical Role fan so I got a little into it through her, and I was already aware of the Hololive EN roleplays, so having the two cross-pollinate has me intrigued. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: Well, here it is, arguably the best known CV title with the most sprawling soundtrack. It feels reductive to name just a single track, but for me it's Wood Carving Partita, the Long Library theme, representing the opulence and sophistication of nobility. #CVSOTM

Just tried the Magnavale demo, I had no idea this came out two days ago. It's strictly within the 'Metroidvania' mold & the pixel art is fantastic. Music is all right but didn't wow me. There's a couple neat ideas here like the weapon preview window and the connection rooms showing the area names.

Since I missed previous Kid Dracula post, I'm doing both the Famicom and Game Boy entries today! Kid Dracula (FC): This game is a bit lighter in tone and the OST reflects that, but there are tracks like Stage 5 with the signature CV sound. Otherwise, a bit different from the norm. #CVSOTM

On a similar topic, still waitin' for HoloCure 0.8 along with every y'all. Interesting that Survivors has a few 20 min. stages and super fusions now, much like HoloCure started out with... I kinda wonder if the back and forth inspiration will end up with adventures or the more structured large maps.

Picked up Vampire Survivors again, I'd put it down a while ago because it was feeling more grindy and less game-like than it had at first. I went back to do some Ode to Castlevania unlocks and uh. Now there's a second, and a third series of unlock grinds. I'm not feeling like this is fun anymore.

Akumajou Dracula X68000: Later released as Castlevania Chronicles, the X68000's chipset lends a deep, crunchy vibe that lends well to the driving tunes in this title! A few retreads, but also solid originals that would be well utilized in later games. Thrashard in the Cave is my pick! #CVSOTM

Oh man, this trivia bit... apparently, the name of Shanoa, the protag of Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, is derived from the French 'chat noir', black cat. There is a black cat in FFXIV whose name is also Shanoa, and I am still not sure if that's an OOE reference, or just a coincidence! Dang it!

Castlevania: The Adventure: There are only four stage themes on the OST, and honestly they're all kinda interchangeable? Such was the nature of early Game Boy titles, I guess. Battle of the Holy doesn't leave the strongest impression in the series history, but it does represent this game. #CVSOTM

Haunted Castle: Technically it counts, and has lent several classic tunes to the series, so! As an arcade game, that first stage tune has to have a good hook! Cross Your Heart is definitely the most memorable to me. Bloody Tears and Don't Wait Until Night are in this OST too, but... #CVSOTM

I liked that Belmont's Curse demo! There's a couple predictions I have about the story going forward. 1. I'm guessing the Fallen is really =Simon Belmont= ... He used a whip, the Cross Boomerang, and showed interest in both that Dracula died and that Rose is a Belmont but didn't press either topic.
