Ren faire was so fun!! Bummer I didn’t finish the costume so I had to use my backup but that didn’t stop Alma and I from having a great ass time with all the other peeps!! Loved meeting and hanging with everyone in the group. Once we get the pics off the cameras and developed I’ll post some :)

6. As mentioned in the part 1 of today's #sharkweek informational, some sharks need to move forwards to breathe. This is called ram ventilation. My gal has a human esq. respiratory system as well as a set of gills. She has to switch to manual breathing when in water if she wants to use the gills.

5. Sharks (obviously) don't have hair. My critter doesn't either. She wears a wig!! (it's a magic wig that only she can take off so noone is just gonna yoink it off her lol). She usually takes it off before she sleeps to keep it from getting crusty from the salt water.

4. The reason sharks are susceptible to pressure being applied to the snout is due to the huge number of electroreceptors that are there. Imagine being forced to feel like you have to yawn because someone is pushing on your face. You'd let em roll you over too lol

3. Most sharks have a "6th sense" which is used by an organ called the ampullae of lorenzini. They're an electrorecepting organ that allows the sharks to detect electrical fields which, tldr, lets them sense the electrical signals that other animals give off. (cont. below)

2. Due to having a dorsal fin on her center back she CANNOT sleep on her back normally. She's a chest down/ side sleeper on normal beds. To avoid this in her own home she sleeps in an inflatable pool filled with saltwater so she can free float peacefully. (Art by @/cloudboyo.bsky.social )

1. Sharks have to be in salt water, fresh water is bad for their skin and chlorinated water especially so. No normal pools or showers for them. My gal has a custom pool in her back yard that's salt on one end, and gradually becomes fresh with a brackish area in the middle. Perfect for everyone.

4. Big thing to alway look out for is the way the jaws move. For most sharks the bottom jaw does not move. The teeth are always out. The top jaw is hidden unless the shark is biting. It extends from the upper pallet and meets the lower jaw. Otherwise the teeth are mostly hidden on the upper row.

3. Another issue with these videos of larger sharks is that most of them are ram ventilators. They cannot breathe unless they are constantly moving to push water through their gills. Hence they cannot just sit still and idly wait for a person to swim up and push them/pull out a comically large hook.

2. Most ai videos of sharks are big ones; great whites, tigers, hammerheads. Those animals are very heavy. There is no possible way a human can forcibly push these animals backwards with just a finger. You can guide them by placing your fingers/hands on their snouts, but you aren’t pushing them.

1: in real life, under water lighting is almost constantly changing and sparkling due to the natural waves. A lot of ai videos have a weird constant lighting effect in them that gives everything a pretty uniform brightness.
