I’ve narrowed Kenny’s new name choices down to two; however, my decision is contingent on his DNA test results, ‘cause if he’s predominantly a German Shepherd, I’m naming him Lord so I can point to him and say, “The Lord is my shepherd.”

At the pet photographer’s studio, an 11 week-old brown tabby named Carmen and her foster aunt, Alice (black Lab), are on a brown backdrop. To their left is a pile of red and yellow feather wand toys and to the right a single jingle ball toy.

Carmen walks confidently toward the camera, left front paw mid-step, striped tail raised straight up into the air. Alice is close behind, keeping watch over on her little ward.

When Carmen came to me at 6 weeks, she was a very sick little girl and her survival was uncertain for the first four days. She made a full recovery (and then some!) but it was obvious she was eventually going to lose her left eye. It continued to swell and finally popped on a Sunday morning, during Memorial Day weekend. She had enucleation surgery two days later.
