Reposted by Quiche IndustriesWill Stone @wstone.uk · 03/10/2026I think @kagi.com’s decision to stop developing Orion on Linux and Windows is the right one, but I’d go further and stop Orion development altogether and instead concentrate on being the best search and AI assistant, and fund the likes of @quiche.industries which has already made an amazing browser 2121
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 02/10/2026Thank you very much 😊 Tab-switching gestures are 80% ready but have been put on hold while working on updates for iOS 27 and the iPhone Duo 🙇♂️ 010

Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 26/09/2026e.g. if JavaScript is disabled globally (in Settings → Advanced), the icon shows "JS", non crossed-out. If JS is specifically enabled for the current website, the icon is colored and highlighted. 101
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 26/09/2026If I remember correctly, that's how the buttons behave in their first iteration... and it confused people even more. The color hue and the highlight rectangle were added later in order to distinguish visually the global setting from the website-specific one. 100
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 25/09/2026Probably not needed. Were you impacted by the crash I referred to in the release notes? 000
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 24/09/2026Not fixing per se, but offering more options for sure. 021
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 23/09/2026I wish I had their talent for designing splendid Mac apps. 020
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 22/09/2026It’s because they don’t set the viewport correctly, and as a result, the svh/lvh CSS units are wrong. 010
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 22/09/2026And same issue in Arc Search, Opera, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, and Aloha! Almost got motion sickness recording this video, but always happy and proud to spend an unhealthy amount of time building a smoother reading experience than anywhere else. 240
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 22/09/2026It's mind-boggling how clunky almost all 3rd-party iOS browsers are. Here's my little Quiche Browser vs Brave, Edge, Firefox, and Vivaldi... Look at how the photo jumps abruptly as the toolbar collapses and expands, everywhere but in Quiche Browser. 3132
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 21/09/2026More experiments on iPhone Duo's outer display: A&B: Vertical toolbar + bottom or top primary toolbar. C&D: Time moved to the top, minimal toolbar (shows menu on tap), and full-width web page. D goes further by completely hiding the front camera. Apple designers might hate these. Ship or skip? 1130
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 21/09/2026The default will be to move that secondary row as a vertical toolbar on the side, but I was wondering if some people would rather keep the 2-row toolbar as an option, or whether this would be a crime against the HIG. 010
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 21/09/2026Fantastic! Nothing pleases me more than winning people over disabling JavaScript 😊 100
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 20/09/2026• Should the 2-row toolbar stay as an option on the outer display? • In landscape, should the inner display show buttons at the top (like Safari) or on the side (like all other apps)? • Will buttons next to a web page be too distracting while reading? • Waste of time porting the Classic theme? 101
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 20/09/2026First video of Quiche Browser on iPhone Duo! It's 80% ready, and the last 20% is dozens of design questions to answer. Very curious to hear everyone's thoughts 👇 250
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 18/09/2026Juggling between many high priority tasks right now, but definitely on my list at some point 🙇♂️ 010
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 17/09/2026Can you please share the URL of a game you’d like to play full screen? 000
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 14/09/2026Split-screen browsing on Quiche Browser beta for iPad just got A LOT more comfortable, thanks to the new adaptive toolbar rearranging buttons to fit neatly inside narrow windows. (DM me for invites!) 3160
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 14/09/2026Oh, big sigh of relief here, and always happy of any opportunity to remind people about this Disable JavaScript button 😉 100
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 14/09/2026Hmm, must be geobased. I'm not seeing any ads on Techcrunch from Japan, apart from a small xmark button at the bottom. TC is much faster to load and pleasant to read with JavaScript disabled. I really recommend you give it a try. 100
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 14/09/2026Strange! Maybe EasyList coverage has decreased on the websites you visit regularly. Have you tried the Disable JavaScript button on those? Benchmarks don't mean much but just to be sure, are you getting 100% on that one? adblock-tester.com 100
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 12/09/2026Update’s been approved in one hour, and for some reason it’s already live before iOS 27 release 😁 170
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 12/09/2026Just submitted the next Quiche Browser update to Apple. Will hopefully be approved before iOS 27 ships on Monday, and then on to building a new customizable vertical toolbar for the iPhone Duo 📱📖 2151
Reposted by Quiche IndustriesHéliographe @heliographe.studio · 08/09/2026BitCam 2.1 is out! This is a fun one: you can now install a macOS system extension to use BitCam as a camera in Zoom, PhotoBooth, Google Meet, WebEx... any app that lets you pick a camera. 0102
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 07/09/2026Pausing a background tab unloads it from memory, but it doesn't cache it on disk either. Offline reading could be a nice addition in the future, if done well. 010
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 07/09/20262. At this time, reading RSS feeds within Quiche Browser might go against its ethos of staying simple and lightweight. 130
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 07/09/20261. Safari Reader is available from a toolbar/menu button, but this is until I find the time to build a custom one. Embarrassingly I built one for Quiche Reader years ago, but never released as it wasn't as good as I hoped. 110
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 07/09/2026Catching up on what some other mobile browsers are already doing 😅 010
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 04/09/2026Another nice little byproduct of making Quiche Browser fully resizable on iOS 27: reading in landscape mode will finally become bearable! • The toolbar moves to the top. • Buttons rearrange themselves into one row. • Wide websites fully expand horizontally, without breaking their layout. 2201
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 04/09/2026I picked the meanest one but apart from that one people were asking nicely! 110
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 04/09/2026Now, this toolbar-on-top thing is just a coincidental byproduct of my recent work on adaptive toolbars, which became my #1 priority since iOS 27 was announced. This same work will benefit people on iPad, on iPhone in landscape, in iOS mirroring on macOS 27, and on the upcoming foldable iPhone. 010
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 04/09/2026I spend an unhealthy amount of time and thought on making a roadmap that makes the most sense strategically and financially. Since I don’t measure app usage, I support these decisions based on the DMs, emails, and reviews I receive, and a significant number of them told me this was a deterrent. 200
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 03/09/2026Coming later this year to Quiche Browser: • Moving the toolbar out of the way, to the top of the screen. • Top+bottom toolbar layouts, like OG Safari. Maybe like me back then, you thought everyone prefers the toolbar at the bottom nowadays? Well, not according to these angry App Store reviews! 2111
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 28/08/2026It sounded like a gimmick to me at first, but using iPhone apps in wide size might be my favorite feature of macOS 27 Golden Gate. And with the upcoming adaptive toolbar in Quiche Browser on iOS 27, it feels an inch closer to an actual Mac version. Even iPad keyboard shortcuts are working! 0250
Reposted by Quiche IndustriesHéliographe @heliographe.studio · 28/08/2026The original Macintosh had a 1-bit black or white screen - but it did not have a "dark mode" Working on BitCam was a fun opportunity to imagine what that could look like! 061
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 27/08/2026(This feature may or may not be related to some upcoming foldable iPhone, so please everyone, be angels and sell a couple of your organs to buy one, so that my summer work won't have been in vain.) 080
Quiche Industries @quiche.industries · 27/08/2026Coming soon to Quiche Browser: adaptive toolbars! Shrink the app, and it will rearrange your large toolbar into two small ones, so that all your buttons fit on screen. 1120
Reposted by Quiche IndustriesHéliographe @heliographe.studio · 25/08/2026If BitCam.app doesn’t speak to you, you’re not hooked up right. Thanks @gruber.foo for the kind words! 041
Reposted by Quiche IndustriesHéliographe @heliographe.studio · 24/08/2026I wanted BitCam's editor to be a pixel perfect hommage to Macintosh System 1.0 - but what do you do for the Apple logo? It's going to be an instant App Store rejection. The trick? The app ships with a fruit logo, and users who wish to do so can remove a few pixels to make it what it should be. 0192
