Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 06/09/2026One of my favorite parts of any given Columbo episode is when he goes to the killer’s place of work and walks around looking befuddled until someone notices him 090
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Gonna revisit my first exposure to Peacemaker. Maybe my favorite version of the character. 040

Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 05/09/2026I recently reread Under the Red Hood in the new conpact edition and rewatched the movie adaption now that I have it on disc. I love this story. 061
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 05/09/2026I recently bought the novelization by Greg Cox 020
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Ironic that Incognito tries to depict Farmer as a pudgy creepy loser when I’m fairly certain he was never accused of anything bad. And yet all these abusive hack comic writers get more fame and credit for doing less ambitious takes on his ideas. 030
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Planetary and Incognito. Or as like to call them: boneless Philip José Farmer 160
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 02/09/2026THE SPIDER: DOOM LEGION. Murray is often considered one of the best Spider writers aside from Norvell Page. I agree, especially after reading this excellent story that teams The Spider with other pulp adventurers G-8 and Operator 5. 040
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 02/09/2026DOC SAVAGE: SKULL ISLAND. A prequel story that takes place before Doc became a proper adventurer. He and his father journey to Skull Island and encounter Kong. Maybe my favorite of Murray’s that I’ve read so far. 160
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Its sequel DOC SAVAGE: EMPIRE OF DOOM. A story featuring Doc and The Shadow crossing paths once again later in their respective careers to unite against Shiwan Khan. This is the equivalent of a huge comic crossover event but for pulp characters imo. 150
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Some novels of his I’ve read: DOC SAVAGE: THE SINISTER SHADOW. For my money, this is the definitive story of the first meeting between Doc Savage and The Shadow. Masterfully written to feel like a mix of Walter Gibson and Lester Dent’s styles. 170
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I want to give tribute to Will Murray, pulp writer and historian. His contributions to the preservation and analysis of pulp characters cannot be overstated. He helped with the efforts to reprint Doc Savage for decades. He extensively interviewed Walter B. Gibson, creator of The Shadow. 1195
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Gonna try and post here more often. Slightly rebranded because I’m not good at sticking to one subject. 061

Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 08/02/2026I’m less than forty pages into this, but I feel like James Cameron ripped this series off whole cloth. Rocannon’s World is Avatar if it took place on a more interesting planet with more interesting lore. 050
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 08/02/2026I am so due for a reread of Grendel vs The Shadow. One of my favorite comic miniseries of all time and would also probably make for a pretty entertaining yaoi 0163

Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 08/02/2026You’ll love the Dennis O’Neil/Mike Kaluta comics. Really great stuff 100

Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 08/02/2026And it is brilliant. Really excited for the copy my partner preordered for me. 130
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 07/02/2026Ennis and Dillon’s Punisher is so good. It’s definitely not for everybody, and I get that. But the pace and flow of it is beautiful to me. Writing and art perfectly complimentary to each other. It’s no wonder almost every Punisher adaption to exist has taken bits and pieces from it. 1130
Charlatanposting @questionposting.bsky.social · 06/02/2026I’m hesitant to post these sorts of things here because I think of Bluesky as being a high brow place where the bullshit I write is considered garbage dreck. Anyway… 091
