Idk if I ever posted my full thoughts on BYF but this was what I put down for the MC

* MC: Chen Yu, baby of his family, rich young master, good tempered but not a pushover
* ….is very pretty and knows it which is VERY funny
* interesting variant of those “spoiled but troubled young master” types that I usually don’t see in danmeis
* He IS privileged by how rich he is & he indeed has bad academic scores
* idt he’s stupid but if he wants to keep his grades up he does need to keep up the work and he just doesn’t
* So like usually w these types they balance out their MASSIVE privilege in having fam w enough $$ to buy their grades or never work a day in their life by having the character be naturally hard working/earnest so that they’re worthy of being that rich yk
* That’s not how MC is, he is lazy and not stupid but he doesn’t have that drive to work hard academically because he doesn’t /have/ to half becuz no one expects him to and half becuz he doesn’t need $ yk

That did irk me a little because . I mean . yeah but it becomes clear that the MC is like that b/c he’s alone, it’s kinda a miracle that he didn’t turn out much much worse than just a rich teen drifting thru life
* like he doesn’t do drugs, drink, go on wild joy rides, doesn’t look down on others if they don’t wrong him, he just lacks goals and like . someone who Looks at him, pays attention to him
* a lil . Crazy too . Not as crazy but meets the ML where he is and matches his freak
* The “he’s so obsessed w me & can’t live without me & that makes me happy b/c I also have issues” type
* also cute and quite silly, I appreciate how casual he is to his friends+ppl in general even tho he’s like a super rich young master he’s like……maybe down to earth but just like, “reachable”

These were my thoughts right after I read glory (sorry for the tiny font I typed way too much)

I miss my son (MC) already………
* Modern, esports (MOBA…?) setting
* From my understanding it’s like a game that’s like LOL but not LOL, it’s a game made up by the author but it’s just the same type
* Ngl some of the game stuff started going over my head at some point but it’s fine
* imo this is like if u took kuroko no basket or haikyuu except as an esports novel and also is actually gay, like fr
* I wouldn’t say this for most other sports novels I’ve read because the key here is that THIS one sometimes gives the spotlight to like, rival teams and gives u a little backstory to them? So u know more about them beyond the fact that they’re another team for the MC to try to beat yknow
* So that also means there’s some “antagonists” I guess but not a lot of actual villains, if that makes sense
* Wow the foreign teams aren’t *solely* made the villains, amazing
* Also the romance is more in the background for this? It really starts to get more esports focused but the MCs are still soooooo sticky and gross when they get together lmao. Idk I’m not complaining much about this
* There’s a Lot of side characters and a lot of them who are also reoccurring which is nice
* I got attached to a lot of the side characters by the end albdisbd…..like they really made the world feel fleshed out and it makes me wish there were more extras to see how they’re all doing after the main story but oh well that’s okay

* Also it was refreshing to me how the MC stayed shameless and flirty as fuck even after they got together and started having sex? so like the teasing and “punishment” quote unquote back and forth is just a fun thing between them yknow what I mean
* Also refreshing to see a MC/bottom actually repeatedly show that he wants sex . instead of the ML/top being the only horndog
* The author may not have been able to actually write the scenes out but they have so much sex LOL….couch sex, car sex, bathroom sex (multiple times), even office/desk sex 💀 I’m shocked that the author even gave enough details for me to know this
* Not really a face-slapping novel and more like….seeing the underdogs rise in a sports themed novel if that makes sense? Win the championship, friendship, rivals, teams, w some gay romance on the side if that makes sense
* I do think that some of the tension(?) gets a little? Not underwhelmed maybe but some of it gets ruined towards the end because the author made the stakes of the MC/ML’s team losing TOO high
* Like you’re not gonna read this 80% of the way thru like “oh no! The ML is gonna lose w the stakes THIS high when the novel has been pretty feel good so far” yk what I mean?
* Idk like the stakes being drawn so high when OBVIOUSLY there’s no chance that would happen drew it out to a point where it was kinda annoying actually
