revisited a poem/manifesto-y thing I wrote election night already sure before it’d been called & desperate for a way forward. Stand by this in its current version—we need fighting words & queer histories, not mere care.

Trump wins I will write poems again. I will not consider that a political act. But neither will it be something so limping as Self Care. It will Matter and to more than a me who squirrels it sheepishly out of sight into a dark digital drawer.

I will write gems with hard, clean faces I can palm off to my loves with a justified faith that they will be of help. Something for my comrade to nick a finger pad on in their pocket and thereby careen into a bit of fight they forgot they had stored. Gemstones cut.
