According to the Delaware School Survey, as many as 1 in 4 teens in DE may be LGBTQ+. Even 4 years after intial COVID lockdowns, mental health disparities among LGBTQ+ teens remains a public health crisis. >80% of LGBTQ+ DE teens reported psychological distress, compared to 50-60% of cishet teens.

🚨New research from grad student lab member August Wei shows the protective effect of family connectedness on suicide thoughts/behaviors among LGBTQ+ youth presenting at emergency departments. More family connection associated with lower odds of suicide ideation. doi.org/10.1016/j.ja... #LGBTQhealth
