This article is really embarrassing.
It's entirely focused on technology-as-nostalgia and not the fact that every modern device wants you to constantly pay a rental fee in some form or another.
If I'm listening to MP3s on a Diamond Rio there is exactly zero chance it will ask for a credit card.
