text excerpt: Through crowded streets and dark alleyways, through winding roads and leaf-strewn paths, you ran blindly, desperately, towards Shixiong, towards the boy who’d given you a home all those years ago, towards the man who’d later forsaken you, towards the only person in the world who had ever spoken to you with gentleness and warmth, towards the very same person who had nearly killed you… Towards the one and only home that you had ever known.

☀️CONTRIBUTOR SPOTLIGHT🌙 something is amiss with quan yizhen...what is he up to? where is yin yu? find out in this fix by @redlikerozez.bsky.social for the quanyin zine, coming in less than 2 WEEKS!! #tgcf #mxtx

writer: Red
text excerpt: Not long now, Quan Yizhen thought, a tiny, hopeful smile curling on his lips. Then you’ll be with me again. We’ll never be apart, shixiong.
Oil smudged across his freckled nose and his hair was especially wild and frizzy, thoroughly untamed ever since the accident. Quan Yizhen was slumped over the table, tinkering with the inner workings of the mechanical body he had prepared to house his recently departed beloved’s soul.
Someone once told him that people grieve in many different ways. But Quan Yizhen didn’t have time for something as trivial as grief. There was much work to be done. What use was there in grieving if he was going to bring Yin Yu back?
Shixiong isn’t really dead, Quan Yizhen assured himself. He was only testing his shidi. The final test, the ultimate test. Far be it from Quan Yizhen to keep his shixiong waiting.
The construction of the mechanical doll had been fairly simple, for an ingenious, prodigy inventor like Quan Yizhen. He’d learned from the best, after all. Apprenticing under a talented scientist like Yin Yu had been his soul’s pride, his life’s pleasure. He lived and breathed their work together, treasuring every glance, every speck of praise, every drop of knowledge from his beloved mentor.

☀️CONTRIBUTOR SPOTLIGHT🌙 is quan yizhen going to get his kiss?! come find out in vin's fic !...........which is coming out in 2 WEEKS!!! repeat: 2 WEEKS UNTIL QUANYIN ZINE RELEASE!!! #yinyu #tgcf #mxtx

writer: vin
text excerpt: Suddenly, an idea occurred to him, and Quan Yizhen reluctantly lifted his face from Yin Yu's shoulder. He stared down at his shixiong with his usual wide-eyed, open intensity, and Yin Yu stared up at him, expression concealed by his monstrous mask.

His arms were still wrapped around Yin Yu, but his expression was serious and focused, making for a rather silly picture overall.

“Can I kiss you?”

The question was uttered into the cool night air without a trace of shame. Quan Yizhen had asked it like it was any other question. Straightforward and direct as always, he spoke his strongest desire without a trace of restraint in his demeanor.

Yin Yu's hand, still wrapped in a clump of curls, tightened. His eyes widened and he halted all movement, though whether he had been frozen solid from shock or simple nervousness, it was difficult to tell. Even in the faint light of evening, Quan Yizhen could see the color of his shixiong’s ears changing and deepening with a blush.

writer: Kinako
text excerpt: He couldn’t perceive any odd fluctuations in Quan Yizhen’s spiritual veins. If nothing seemed out of place, then whatever was affecting Quan Yizhen must have been a subtle, sophisticated work, and that meant it would be harder to undo. At least for Yin Yu.
“Shixiong, what’s wrong?”
“Listen to me, Yizhen.” Yin Yu locked his gaze. “Don’t panic. I believe you’re under a spell, so you forgot a couple of things.”
“What things?”
“Well, a lot of things happened. We…get along better now, so…”
“So we have a house?”
“Yes.” Yin Yu didn’t want to reveal information without care. He didn’t know how Quan Yizhen would react.
“We have a house, and I forgot?” Quan Yizhen asked. “We live together, shixiong?”
“...Yes, we do.” Yin Yu smiled.
“I can’t believe I forgot that.” Quan Yizhen pouted.
Yin Yu patted his head. “Don’t worry, Yizhen. We’ll fix this in no time. We just have to find out what happened. Let’s talk to Chengzhu. He knows a lot more about memories than me. He should know what to do.”

text excerpt: The walls were too close.

Not metaphorically — not in the way they always were throughout years of social regret, bad decisions, and the memory of his own godsforsaken death closing in on him at all sides until Yin Yu couldn’t breathe…

(As if he, a ghost, needed to breathe.)

No, this time, the walls were literally too close, and Quan Yizhen was right there.

Their limbs were an entangled mess of confusion in the pitch blackness, leaving Yin Yu confused as to which way was up. Focus. He just needed to focus—

Quan Yizhen balanced between his legs with the curve of his knees settled snugly beneath Yin Yu’s hips. He could feel every rise and fall of the god’s chest from where they were practically pressed into one another. Every one of Quan Yizhen’s breaths washed over Yin Yu’s face, down his neck, and into his robes. Yin Yu tried not to mimic the harsh gasps, but it was difficult when the forced proximity made it second nature to mirror every breath.

Every inhale. Every exhale.

Each a constant reminder of their closeness, making an already enclosed space even smaller.

It was suffocating. It was unbearable. It was—

“How,” Yin Yu choked out, “did this happen?”

☀️CONTRIBUTOR SPOTLIGHT🌙 things are heating up with @/parameciam's quanyin fic 👀 find it (and many others) in the upcoming quanyin zine !! #quanyizhen #yinyu #tgcf #mxtx

writer: parameciam
text excerpt:
He brought Quan Yizhen to the bath and started taking off the outer layers of his clothes, trying his best to not be affected. But it was an impossible task. He was not blind, and having to touch Quan Yizhen made everything worse. In the end, he opted to leave Quan Yizhen's inner robes on, out of respect and hoping it would hide enough of Quan Yizhen's body. Maybe that way his own self control would not falter.
Doing that didn't help at all, though, and in fact it made things worse, since now Yin Yu could see exactly how aroused Quan Yizhen was, and it was such a sinful image that he felt himself get hard too, looking at his shidi’s sculpted body, the robes almost transparent from the water revealing every jut and crevice in his shidi’s body, doing nothing to hide his erection. Quan Yizhen's cock looked like it was painfully hard, and it made Yin Yu's mouth water.
The way Quan Yizhen pleaded for shixiong to do something to help him get relief was making it all worse. He kept babbling something else, and Yin Yu had to get closer to be able to hear… so Quan Yizhen used that chance to pull him into the tub with him, making Yin Yu lose his balance and fall.
Great. Now he was uncomfortably soaked and bracketing Quan Yizhen's scalding hot body with his arms and legs.

☀️CONTRIBUTOR SPOTLIGHT🌙 next up: quan yizhen figures out how to romance shixiong with @/schmer ! find the full fic in the upcoming quanyin zine! #yinyu #tgcf #mxtx

writer: Hailey @schmer

excerpt:
Sometimes Quan Yizhen felt like he was missing out.

Most of the time he didn’t care about what anybody else had. He didn’t care about what anybody else did. And other times he just didn’t want to be alone, not anymore.

He wanted to be with Shixiong. He always wanted to be by his side, trailing after him, and right there, ready for the moment Yin Yu needed anything. He wanted to be so close that people thought of them as they did the one-eyed Ghost King and his Scrap God. Or the two southern gods that broke all of the stuff.

But what was he supposed to do with that love? How was he supposed to kiss and marry and sex Shixiong if he didn’t know how people got there? How did a relationship go from friends, or martial brothers, or fellow gods, to something more?

How could he have those things with Shixiong? What could he do to win Yin Yu’s heart — to be allowed to kiss, and hug, and hold, and pull Yin Yu into his lap?

He knew people he could make tell him; he would start there.

The place was rotting, with holes in the floor and unknown items scattered everywhere. Apart from the door, there was not even a window or opening to let in light. Even so, at the back of the temple, where an old mural faded by time was painted, there were a couple of candles burning on the floor, dripping wax onto the wood.

Their small flames were hypnotic... So much so that Quan Yizhen approached them carefully, but instead of bending down, he looked up at the mural painted on the wall, diverting his attention.

The colors of the mural were fading, remnants of black clinging to the passage of time, a few reds dripping from their original position. He couldn't say what it had been...

But when he looked up even higher, almost to the ceiling at the end of the mural,
he saw the moon…

Ting…
