Because reasons, I've been thinking and reading lately about the old song "Sweet Betsy from Pike." Along the way, I discovered that versions of the song have been recorded by tons of folks including Burl Ives and Iggy Pop. Not something you can say often.

This was in The New York Times just before the 2024 election. If you say there's no difference between the Times and Fox News, you're wrong. Sometimes the Times is good: solid reporting, a clear sense of right and wrong. Other times it's Fox Lite, or worse. That's what's maddening about the Times.

#platner OK, this probably isn't going to be a popular take, but the Platner fiasco points to a real problem. Senate contests in close elections have all become national, not state campaigns. THAT'S how you get unknown, unvetted candidates in the race with too much money.

Remember Kash Patel's nutty claim that the FBI had thwarted an explosive drone/sniper attack on the South Lawn UFC bout? The DOJ unsealed an indictiment. They have a 19-year-old Ohio resident in custody. This FBI agent's statement says Tycen Proper joined a pro-Christian, anti-Jewish militia.

I don't know why it hasn't been more of a news story, but crypto currencies are in the middle of a rout. Bitcoin has fallen in value by 15% in the past 5 days. Ethereum and Doge are down 17%. Solana is down by 20%. Something's going on.

I've been living in a new city and without a car for the past three months. Instead of driving, I either walk or take public transit. While it's often inconvenient, there are benefits--expected and not. I walk more. Today, I logged more than 5 miles on foot. That was expected.
