Game key cards, high storage spaces, and lesser fidelity make these 3rd party games on Switch 2 a hard sell for me. Stuff like Mega Man fits the console perfectly and are the 3rd party games I buy on Switch 2. Games that are fun to pick up and play and that I’m not too worried about graphics.

I’m also not buying most of my 3rd party games on Switch 2. Games like Persona and Resident Evil just work better on the PC or PlayStation for me (at least until I can’t buy physical copies of them).

Still an overall decent direct but I was expecting something with a bit more meat. This is the second year of the Switch 2 and we need those heavy hitters. Kirby and Metroid look fantastic, I’m glad the Switch 2 is getting good 3rd party support, but we need more 1st party games to look forward to.

Metroid and Kirby saved a pretty mid direct. Mario Kart World update looks good and some of those 3rd party games are important to have but overall the good stuff felt buried under stuff that just wasn’t for me.

Nintendo, I love 3rd party games as much as the next guy and they are an integral part of a healthy console, but me and many others bought a Switch 2 for first party games.

I think the Ocarina of Time looks pretty good so far. If you don’t agree, that’s fine! I was initially hesitant about the Star Fox redesigns too. I’m just wary of the tendency of modern fandoms to reflexively dogpile on newer iterations, when “the classics” didn’t always get it right either, IMO.
