The Loudoun County, VA Board just voted for a 12 month halt to new data centers. We already have the largest concentration of them in the world.

Hyundai needs to stop cheaping out on their software development. I also get oil change coupons in the mail from the dealership.

From the local Hyundai dealership's website, text is "What does your KONA electric need? Option 1 is "Full Synthetic Oil and Filter Change."

EVs don't have oil or oil filters.

In 2001, I lived in a part of Detroit that had many Arab Americans. I saw white men in suits jumping out of SUVs to grab young men, throwing them against walls and dragging them off. The stores and restaurants I frequented were full of scared people.

25 years later, we are being told we need to accept 1,000s and 1,000s of deaths due to preventable diseases, contaminated food and militarized police (including CBP and ICE) and reduced rights along with 24-7 surveillance to protect our freedom. This makes no sense, unless profit, not safety,

Loudoun Co. VA sheriffs have denied calling ICE on people. A FOIA request shows they've been calling ICE on everyone they can, from minor traffic stops to folks calling 911. We knew this, but the link below shows just how much they lied. iceoutofloudoun.carrd.co

So Gloria Steinem is dead. She threw trans folks and lesbians under the bus in the 70s. She was always in favor of respectability politics, which means she worked against sex workers, the poor and folks who weren't white enough and middle class enough for her. We're better off without her.

My heart is bleeding for the Tohono O'odham Nation, as they are invaded by armed Federal Agents. I visited back in the Noughties to eat at Desert Rain Cafe, which used indigenous foods. The breakfast was so delicious, I decided to stay for lunch. Went to the tribal museum in between.

Just finished Loubna Mrie's excellent book, _Defiance_. Also a very difficult book to read. From a very abusive family to the Syrian Uprising to physical escape from Syria, the details of one person's story are narrow enough to take in some of the horror. I am glad she survived.

I was shocked to see all of the posts accusing Emily Wilson of being mean to Nolan in her LRB article. She wasn't. A woman who is an expert in Homer dared to criticise a man who is not. Hence the ad hominem attacks for "not being nice." It is not the job of women to inflate men's egos.
