If you test a system using different software and different hardware than what's going into production, then you haven't tested that system. Rawr... ... why can't it ever be simple.

I can make lights all kinds of crazy things, but no, creative wants simple static colors. I'm so tempted to just sneak in some +5/-5 random fades, just to make it less static...

It's turning into a weird "lost tech" kind of mess where what's for sale is junk and you have to dig through old stuff to find "the good stuff".

It's such a weird mess with tech right now, it's at the point where there's stuff we're deploying that's no longer available, no spares or replacement possible, not because it's been replaced by newer tech or such, but because it's just gone from the market. Either because AI, or because capitalism.

"Some ride vendors do installation as a sprint, for some it's a marathon, you're sprinting a marathon, HOW ARE YOU STILL STANDING!" ... yeah. Sometimes i wonder.

The number of time i've heard vendors go "I don't know where you got those pictures or that documentation, but none of that is accurate." lately is becoming problematic. Especially when it was sent by their own sales department.

It did that thing again where i found a decent deal on a computer, bought it, and by the time i got home the price jumped to "I couldn't have afforded it." levels. Apparently the laptop i got now sells for 4499$.

So yeah, i'm glad to be home, apparently the airport i flew out of was attacked the day after. But yeah, i'm in Montréal now, thing are good!

Another day with a forecast of heat between 46c and 48c, 6% humidity, with an air quality of "hazardous" and UV level of "extreme". ... i want to go home ...

I'm having too often that situation where i wonder why Firefox is being laggy... ... turns out i'm in a remote window, not a local one. Yeah, the latency from the middle east to Canada isn't nothing.

@volpeon I've always done the thing where important stuff is on a separate drive, and that drive is disconnected physically, both power and data, when doing an OS reinstall.

I banned mirrors for a long time 'cause of that, but now i figured i can use VR to overwrite the human body with a more fitting creature.

After spending too many years wanting it, i finally got it! Canon R8, brand new! Got it with a 700$ discount, since apparently the Mark II is coming out soon.

I miss how special that felt back then...

Old wall of CRTs with plenty of random machines, all networked and somewhat running together, from the late 90s to early 2000s.

Made a somewhat more generic video showing off the VR/XR thing i'm playing with to work people, and to complain about the state of commercial VR setups, figured i'd throw it on here as well 'cause it's getting fun! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRR5OVKXVCE

Flight time! Heading back to Montreal!

It's amazing just how worse google maps is getting with each trip. I've been in Germany since Monday, it still won't accept that i'm not in Japan and show me local results. It's also 90% of the time failing to show me saved location. I keep having to enter the hotel and worksite location manually...

Yep, today was the day my age increased by 1! Spent the whole day working, but this year it's in Germany, which is an improvement over last year.

Okay, so work may be really sending me to Eurofurence... Anyone has room or anything there?

I'm having a weird brain moment 'cause... I've been all over the world by now, and it's all so... Normal? Different flavors of the same stuff. It's not bad, but... Part of me still hoped that i'd find somewhere different enough in the right way that i'd feel not so out of place anymore.

Yeah, i'm still stuck on how Nagoya just never seems to end... It just goes on and on and on and on, and there's still towers way out there in the distance! And everywhere i've been so far still has so much... everything!

Nagoya, seen at night, from the 45th floor of a tower. It just goes on and on....

Today i had to make a round trip from Nagoya to Tokyo to go get a coworker from the airport. I'm getting pretty comfortable with getting lost in Japan, it feels odd. Also, there's a lot of city. So much of it. It seems like it never ends.

Nagoya, seen from a 14th floor hotel room.

*sighs* I want to just spend a day doing nothing. But i also want to do VR things before i have to leave. But i also want to play SE a bit more. But i also need to pack for Japan. But i also need to setup the IP-KVM thing. But i also need to...

Here's the VRChat Mixed Reality thing i was playing with at Anthrocon! It's not perfect, but it's still very fun for what it is. Also, yeah, first person snout. I think this needs to really be more of a thing!

Anthrocon confirmed! Booked a flight less than 24h before departure, haha! Landing Wednesday at 3PMish. I have no idea what i’m doing, but i’m doing it!

@baralheia Maybe there’s some way to locally relay/buffer the stream to make it work better?
