I can't get over how pretty some of these maps are. Often these are somewhat random choices to check back end fixes to make sure things that were working didn't break. 850mb wind anomalies for Sept 2, 2026 @ 18Z.

YEP...and in order to do that we had to delete the permanent disc storage which had been bypassed for Cloudflare. Turns out our base maps were on the disc so apologies for the + 30 min of 500 server errors! Growing pains??

Woohoo! We’ve had 3 server crashes due to the increase in traffic since yesterday, a few power users, and lots of new signups, and even more visitors juts checking it out! We’re going to work on that backend compute and see if we can smooth things out today.

PyRe Weather now has custom map bounds and projections! If you need a region that you don't see in the preset regions, click on "Custom Region" and make your own! You can type in values or drag and drop, then preview it before using it. Try different projections too. pyreweather.org

How does the current off shore low compare with the Storm of the Century as of 1 day ago? The first map is from the storm of the century 3/13/1993. Second map is US East coast and Western Atlantic on 9/24/26 @ 12Z. Mapping features : MSLP with shading + H/L Centers Maps from pyreweather.org

Sea Surface temperatures in the ENSO region of the equitorial pacific. The first map is from Sept 14, 2026, the 2nd map is from Dec 25, 2010. Aside from being 15 years, 8 months, 19 days apart, what else do you notice? Winter 2010 - La Niña. Sept 2026 - El Niño. Maps: PyReWeather.org

Fun maps you can make with pyreweather.org This is the “Storm of the century” March 13,1993 12z These maps have 500mb heights, temps and relative Humidity. In the 2nd, RH gets shaded. What I love is how easy it is to see all the mid latitude cyclone elements adding up for such a massive event

Hello Gilbert! 38 years ago today, Hurricane Gilbert made landfall on Yucatan Peninsula as a Category 5 hurricane. Reanalysis data shows the precipitable water off the charts! We can look at so many more features of the atmosphere here with pyreweather.org
