I have great big man hands 🙌 and am hanging on to my iPhone 12 mini until Apple 🍎 wises up. The original iPhone was the right size.

Seeing a lot of dev-on-dev harassment has got me thinking about what open software development feels like nowadays.

Wake up, babe. The Prime Minister just dropped “hydronym”.
The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.

The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.

We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.

Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

Every time someone tries to ban something like an e-scooter because of a serious accident, I want to scream out loud that automobiles kill over 1.5 million people every year. Here in Canada, automobiles kill five people *every day*

Shocking.
NTSB graph showing the relationship between miles biked per person per year and cyclists killed per billion miles biked. There's an obvious negative trend (people bike more in place where it's safer to do so.

for a junk drawer to legally qualify as a real junk drawer, what is the ONE absolute mandatory item it must include? Loose AA battery, dunno if it works.

This afternoon's reflection on AI and the dying internet.
"Our generation created the most transformative information technology since the printing press (if not the invention of writing itself) and within the span of three decades we have already found a way to destroy the vast public value it provides."

i was reminded that i made a helpful tool if you're somebody who files FOIA requests for email logs (as a spreadsheet) upload them to GraphEmails.com and you can generate network graphs of who's emailing each other, which you can style and filter (or use to filter the log)
screenshot of GraphEmails.com shows a network graph of email recipients as colorful dots, with a list of domains on the right side and a sidebar on the left with options to filter, style, and analyze the graph

Gently press putty into recalcitrant hole (I used on my gross waxy earbuds). Gently extract, with hole gunk sticking to putty. Repeat with clean putty area. Never push putty too aggressively into hole, patience is required. Can work with toothpicks to extract loosened gunk.

Gods yes, I have always, pre-everything, found it weird how news reports talk about "energy prices" or "energy production" or "energy company" when they mean oil/gas. And they still do, here in the very midst of the transition!
