They blocked the merger on the basis that there would be less competition. It was obvious that Spirit wasn’t going to survive on its own (7 years of bad financials) so this was a flawed rationale. The fuel hikes Trump caused were the last straw, but Spirit wasn’t in a position to survive very long.

I should add that the fact that the merger with Jet Blue was blocked, may help Jet Blue. That combined entity would have been weakness^2. Interesting to see if taking Spirit’s capacity out of the market makes Jet Blue viable. They do have a shot at the premium & credit card revenue. Spirit didn’t.

It does matter. I have encountered a lot of good police officers. They don’t deserve to be equated to how ICE has been operating. They really don’t do the same thing at all (and obviously it depends on exactly where you live).

Well said. Neither party did Spirit any favors. The blocked merger was a bad call (Biden) & doubling of fuel prices for a questionable war was the last straw (Trump). Also market trends may have taken Spirit down anyway because airlines are about credit cards & premium revenue & Spirit does neither.

There is a level of competence that would be required to stage/fake something like this, that I find lacking in the current administration. Yes he has shown a willingness to lie about things both big and small, but that alone isn’t sufficient to believe that the conspiracies exist.

Very true, but also important to remember that we get both cheap AND safe (the latter is often forgotten). It’s amazing that it’s safer to spend $99 on a ticket to fly 500mph, 6 miles off the ground, than it is to stay at home. That takes a lot of hard work from industry and government.

I never said anything about a “coup.” My bet is that she will jump in as the outsider voice of the “true MAGA,” position Trump as selling them out, and parlay that into a presidential run. None of that requires being in Congress and a lot of it is easier if she isn’t.
