ngl, I'm not sure I would have been able to do this in 9s. They gave up when I made this move. I mean, don't get me wrong. I _know_ how to do it. But in under 9s time pressure? Oof. Also turns out I kinda stole this game. Or at least, had made enough mistakes to deserve losing. Def. felt behind.

All the while I've just been playing minecraft (getting ready for adventure with the kids) and chess :D It's not exactly an idle game (claude) and in many ways it is (you still have to holds its hand, be present, clickyticlick). But I enjoy it.

"This reducer is taking 1200ms for this 10mb sample, bring it under 100ms" Non-trivial because there are million element loops (idents) galore and it's quite a complex beast at this point. But it managed to slowly chip away and is now sitting at 150ms. Just optimizing. Over and over. So nice.

Achievement unlocked. I usually forget to even look at them before I forget where I even was. Of course heavily buried in sand so I just TNT'd my way to the chest, destroying the chest in the blast, and so immediately half of it disappears. But oh well.

Eyyyy it works on the actual ereader. Not great but also... Well this is like a few hours of Claude doing stuff mostly on its own and me giving it feature creep. It's extremely low effort on my side and it works. Not so sure about KOreader though holy moly what a complex app.

Peter van der Zee @pvdz.ee · 19/08/2026
Well. It got busy. I had it set up a docker with emulation stuff for the koreader app. And it went to town on a lua script to do this. Can't wait to actually get koreader working on the ereader and actually try this. But it's been giving me some problems.

315 things found, ton of changes and test cases (and a full fuzzer test suite to boot). Used about 75% of weekly (so this was running all week starting sunday). Obviously not using tokens while it's doing a fuzzing batch while still consuming time. Now need to make sense of it and verify them...

AI does make it easy to work with obfuscation without worrying about visual confusion. I just copy paste and it gets it. Doesn't matter that it's garble

Still working out some kinks. Like explaining to claude how a catapult actually works. It's funny because it seems to understand that concept, it basically built all of this, has access to canvas and dom and what not. But still I have to holds its hand. Many times over.

About 1.5 week of worker loop. (I was on vacation) This was an outer bash loop that restarts claude (pro 5x) at 1h interval and custom memory. When Claude signals this it's told to add n more tasks (for perf, gfx, feat, etc). Otherwise continue with open tasks. Et voila (dunno when it hit weekly)

not sure about kimi's output there but close enough. I think gpt's output also refers to me but not entirely sure. if not, that would be a bit of a curious coincidence.

45min was more like uhhh 10h Terraria board game. Game was ok, price way too high for the low replay value. No unlocks or anything and little variation is kind of disappointing for 2026? We only spawned one (unavoidable) boss, missed the others due to rng. Focused on the wrong game components imo.

So, you have an AI that writes up a message body that injects my profile, making it look real, but then forget to scrub the emoji clearly designed to catch automation 🤦

Wondering why chess.com is going to cover the tournament from 5am 11am my timezone, when ... the tournament starts at 2pm in my own country... Ehhh. I'll guess that it's not actually my own timezone, then. Or the timing is reaaaal curious.

But keep telling me that you'll store the sensitive data in a secure location. Please, keep telling me that. Makes me feel so good when you do. One more email to blacklist.

Woooow. They actually (almost?) suckered me into a business plus plan without me realizing it. And to downgrade there's no obvious way. It's hidden under dots and menus. You can change the _payment_ plan easily. But downgrade is hidden under the dots. GRRRRRR >:(

Heh, js1k.com still getting 1k-2k visitors daily. I mean, the demos are still impressive today so that makes sense. Just for a week though, that's too bad. > Per GDPR, DreamHost stores HTTP logs by default for 7 days. Hrm. Surely high level stats should be doable for longer?

Okay, there's a CTA (that I'm absolutely blind to) that starts a domain flow. Super annoying that there's not a single clue of this in the menu. At least the faq eases my mind that I didn't just completely blow up my gmail account here ... but i'm not satisfied just yet

Extraordinarily snowy in the Netherlands. Not seen this much snow in years. We built a⛄and transformed it into an iglo 😁

Hardest or most annoying part was actually just getting a bundled version of sucrase. I hate having to set up tool chains just to create a .min. The rest is trivial. Service worker does need an extra reload, but only when changing the worker itself, so that's no big deal. Now TS is for types.

Ok I was a bit skeptical but the 3d version is more fun. High quality pieces but why make the piece holders so fragile and carton :(

This year was a bit heavy on the idler and gambler games, ngl. Clover pit, unnamed space idle, nubby's number factory, digseum, ai learns to drive, peglin, coin pusher casino, party hard 2, noita, and Finn Dorset's Institute For Livestock Replication.

This is where I end. About two months worth. This game is anything but an idle game and that's fine. But after sector 100 is the point where I gotta look at something else. That fleet stuff looks meh at best tbh. (Hours spent is not active idle games have the best and worst stats)

I guess screw you, Google play, and I'll never leave a review again. So not my problem. And screw any random games demanding sign up to play without reasons.

Had Cursor work batch of tasks Also, I found a failure case of moves being parsed in correctly, stored it in a comment, no further description. Mindlessly telling it to continue with next step. "I finished tasks, but I see that you opened this file and let me fix the problem". Uh, what. It did.

Rest assured that I'm not exactly more confident in using libraries (over standards) when vibe coding. It was so convinced this was correct.

Here's the chess tool I was vibing. It's a tool to find the best chess line based on a given position. Built on Stockfish (Claude used the most time trying integrating this). Nothing ground-breaking but I needed this tool for followup ideas :) pvdz.github.io/bestchessline/

Vibe coding experience so far: - initial poc: 10 minutes - implementing stockfish off-the-shelve: 2 hours plus tedious debugging and only solved after explicitly pointing it into an official example (despite telling it to read its docs) - more feature work: 20 minutes - polish: forever, of course.

I thought, yay, I finally understand the chess problem that was thrown at me at my puzzle level. But no. Turns out just made puzzles easy so now this kind of streak is completely devalued. I'm at puzzle ~2300 and getting puzzles 1000-1800. sigh.

Been implementing some array method conversion and it's highly satisfying. It's really just "simple" lambda-method-to-loop transforms, low hanging fruit, but it's just showing how much territory I have yet to explore
