Take this with a grain of salt obvs, but ime a difference between gay male and lesbian online communities is that gay men rarely say directly that they're gay, instead using signifiers and pragmatics to make this known. Meanwhile, lesbians will use the word "lesbian" in everything, like a mantra.

I've never truly taken to "main character syndrome" as an insult. Feeling like the protagonist of your story, evaluating all action as it pertains to you, came free with your subjective experience of reality. Just call them egocentric or smth
