Did a little hike up to Witch's Castle cause it's a beautiful sunny day in #PDX and we probably won't have a whole lot of those left

Hey #Seattle folks! I'll be visiting Oct 2-4 staying in Cap Hill. Any recommendations on things to check out while I'm there? I'm thinking about moving, so stuff that would help me get a sense of community and livability would be great!

Moda terms over 20 years: Public: - puts in 91% of renovation costs, makes back 9% - 10c for each $1 spent. - Net: $-900M Dundon: - puts in 9% of the renovation costs - makes between $9-16 for each $1 spent. - Net: ~+$900M-$1.6B Blazers called it a non-starter.

The public puts in 91% of the money — and keeps 8% of what the building makes.

Why won’t the team release the actual numbers? Their current lease requires them to keep the arena “first-class” at THEIR expense. An itemized budget would sort every line into “necessary” vs “upgrade.” The “necessary” column IS the bill they already owe. The plans are evidence. Thats why.

Portland isn't divided over the Blazers. Portland has been divided by a negotiating strategy that needs the mayor, the council, Salem, and the fans fighting each other instead of negotiating together. That ends today 🧵 edankrolewicz.substack.com/p/the-moda-d...

Been doing some more cooking lately now that I'm doing my break from work.

Taco skillet (essentially all the ingredients in a taco but you cook it all in a skillet with tortilla chips) topped with three avocado wedges artfully lined on top. Accompanied by a southwest salad and lime wedge. This is my husband's plate because he made his pretty.

Me (a bearded bespectacled Caucasian) wearing a Grateful Dead Bears tank top behind a full breakfast. There's a mug of coffee, eggs with salsa mushrooms and peppers, a bowl of fruit and yogurt and a small ramekin of overnight oats.

A square bowl of ramen with meatballs, egg, carrots and scallion. Behind it are two lowball glasses of Sake and a light blue glass sake bottle. My husband is in the background scooping his first bite.

A bowl of butternut squash soup with roasted veggies and apple and a carrot green garnish.

Bah, I am not doing so hot on getting temperature sensors for my #HomeAssistant DIY project. This time I have the BME280 shuttle board (rather than just the sensor) but the pins are very tiny. Smaller than the jumper wire ports I have.

Three small PCBs, one with the pins exposed. There's jumper wires nearby that are clearly too big. A dime and another board with larger pins are in the shot for size reference.

Well, I did a bit of an oopsie trying to order sensors for the next step in my #HomeAssistant tinkering 😭 I tried to order a few BME280 sensors and some ESP32 Dev boards so I can get temperature and humidity in the living room, bedroom, office

A screen shot of a small circuit board with a 2mm BME280 sensor in the middle, with the sensor circled in red.

Three BME32 sensors on a small plastic strip in a static protection bag. I'm holding a dime up to it for scale. You could maybe line up 10 of the little sensors to get the diameter of a dime

I got an IR Blaster (i.e. Universal Remote) so that I can have #HomeAssistant control my heat pump. I thought I'd need to "teach" the IR blaster maybe three codes (Power, Temp Up, Temp Down). But no... it couldn't be that easy...

A screenshot from the Home Assistant dashboard on my phone. There's a section called Heat Pump with 5 buttons. Heat Off, Heat 70 Low, Heat 72 Med, Heat 74 Med, and Heat 76 High. They each have little thermometer icons that roughly go from low to high.

Me holding the remote the heat pump. There's about 12 buttons, including a big circular button in the middle with an up and down arrow. The LCD shows Heat mode, 72 deg F, medium fan.
