Zhou Zishu wakes to the inside of a swaying carriage. Normally, this isn’t out of the ordinary, if that was the way in which he fell asleep. Which it wasn't. Instead, Zishu remembers that he was with Wen Kexing, reading a letter from Jing Beiyuan, who requested he investigate a certain attached artifact. And then he remembers touching the artifact, only for everything to turn black.

Elsewhere in the jianghu, Jing Beiyuan is doing his best to keep his head attached to his neck.

Jayce tries not to stare at Viktor’s finger when it’s in his face, doing his best not to lean forward and just…lick it. Just the pad of Viktor’s finger, laying across Jayce’s tongue.

He flicks his eyes back to where he bled on the workbench.

It’s clean.

There’s no sign he ever bled there.

Viktor accidentally bleeds on the Hexcore. It decides it wants more.
