I'm not wild about juggling different social media sites so as a heads up to lovely new followers, I am -slightly- more active on IG than here. Follow me there if you want to hear more from me, not a great deal more...but still more than I can manage on here! It's www.instagram.com/puja_garia.r...

The Bride! on the other hand...plot and dialogue was ropey af. Christian Bale got played taking that role. However, there was a thrilling absurdity to it all - a ragtag of ideas and chaotic scenes which kept me watching. #maggiegyllenhaal

Haven't watched The Bride! yet but Fever Ray doing some of the soundtrack feels like an excellent choice for the film: youtu.be/cuXlBfTPvH8?...

Tube platform announcement: "For your own safety, please be aware that pickpockets are operating on the underground..." why does this always sound like we have full-time, salaried, professional pickpockets on duty and that we should be grateful for such a service...

Dear God, Please let 2026 be the year when people stop using the word "liminal" in everything in order to sound like the highbrow-intellectual-artsy- type...i.e. a nonce. Yours faithfully.

Ghost Elephants, Werner Herzog's latest, follows a conservationist who has dedicated much of his life to finding an elusive, giant species of elephant in Angola. Could easily have become an exoticization of the Bushmen of the Kalahari. Instead, this is respectful, warm & an urgent ode to the wild.

On a more serious note, I think having spanners in your hand luggage might warrant being pulled into a separate room for a further security check. I didn't stick around long enough to see the drama though.

The man in front of me at airport security just had his cabin bags go down the second conveyor belt for a security check...The staff took out two big spanners from his hand luggage. Mate, seriously? #airportclowns

I really enjoyed No Other Choice. So many gruesome & wickedly funny moments to front the underlying indictment of the corporate environment. However, the best dark comedy of the London Film Festival 2025 so far goes to Bugonia. #LFF2025 #ParkChan-wook

Roofman was fun, a welcome bit of levity along with Bugonia, in what has been a super emotionally heavy set of films this festival season. #LFF

Ozon's adaptation of Camus's The Stranger: really enjoyed Ozon's take on Mersault, felt like a reinvigorated approach to the philosophical perspective with a highly aesthetic cinematic style. Puzzled why some folks are referring to the subject as existentialism...absurdists, the lot of them! #LFF25

Blue Moon, Richard Linklater's latest: dialogue-focused & it's sharp, fast and rollicking. Ethan Hawke's best performance yet - he plays American songwriting legend Lorenz Hart. Never seen Hawke so small and under 5ft! V different from all other Linklaters but that's his unpredictable style! #LFF

Rocky start today scrambling around the house looking for things I needed to pack my bag, forgetting my headphones, dealing with smarmy waiters & running late. Then had a Wagamama & to see a film adaptation of a disturbing book based on absurdist philosophy. Can confirm I now feel right as rain.

Frankenstein: Guillermo Del Toro, true to his track record, has created another hot monster feature (Elordi might be too much here, though?). Fabulous world-building, so emotive and captivating. However, pacing seemed a little off. Could be a little more concise. #LFF #Londonfilmfestival2025

Only on Earth: an immersive documentary by Robin Petré which explores human-animal coexistence in one of the most wildfire-prone places in Europe - Galicia, Spain. Stunning & really hits home that we live in a world increasingly ravaged by the effects of climate change. #LFF #londonfilmfestival2025

Sentimental Value: Joachim Trier does it again. He leads you down the garden path with humour & sharp dialogue with this look at two daughters & their relationship with their filmmaker dad. Then unexpectedly, he hits you with a tenderness that has more staying power the more you think on it. #LFF

The BFI Press booking system is too much for my ADHD brain. You have to be on the app bang on time to book ahead, keep up with the daily bulletins by email every morning, check the website for 10am public screening releases and somehow deal with all the glitches on the system at the same time. #LFF

Songs of Forgotten Trees - Anuparna Roy's debut feature, seemed promising at first as it delicately laid out the intertwined lives of two flatmates in Mumbai - one a sex worker and one a call centre agent. But an undernourished script quickly made this film forgettable. #LFF #londonfilmfestival2025

Clint Bentley's Train Dreams: a story of finding glimmers of joy in the abyss of grief, against the backdrop of early 20th century rural America. The film burns slowly but steadily, with sprinkles of something metaphysical; a subtle telling of what space and place means. #LFF

Chronology of Water: Kristen Stewart delivers a film that leaves you in immediate need of several glasses of wine & a quiet place to sit and process. The heaviness becomes too much to bear at times, but the ethereal sequencing puts you in the same dissociative state as the protagonist. #LFF
