It's frustrating having to advocate for myself over the egos of doctors and dentists. Like yes, I'm aware that our bodies MAKE epinephrine. I am telling you that by injecting me with MORE, there will be a real possibility of triggering a very terrifying chemical response wherein my body locks up.

I always ask for plain mepivacaine at the dentist because the epinephrine in the other anesthetics trigger panic attacks. If the panic becomes overwhelming, where I start to hyperventilate, I start experiencing carpopedal spasm. This stuff us physiological, which is why I'd like to avoid it.

I've worked in animal care for a decade and so I'm more qualified than most people to tell you that the average potential pet owner wants a lab. Folks will get a border collie or a GSD or a shiba inu and then wonder why it's not behaving like a lab. Like please just get a lab.

Actually kids won’t enhance my experience as an adult enjoying my life because if they truly would have, I would have already had a few. People really need to stop telling child-free adults that they’re missing out. We need to start being okay with the fact that some folks just don’t want kids.

The fundamental issue here is the misinformation being spread about longer noses = healthier, when there is a large breed variation in the way BOAS (breathing issues) develops. Ideally, breeders of these dogs would be grading their animals’ respiratory function.

Muzzle length isn’t the sole contribution to BOAS as a risk in brachycephalic breeds. Ignoring the unpredictability of F1 genetics when outcrossing with a longer-nosed dog can still result in significant BOAS risk, even with an elongated muzzle -

The sentiment that all flat faced breeds are inherently unhealthy by virtue of being flat faced is so deeply ingrained in online culture that when presented with a dog with absolutely 0 signs of clinical BOAS, they will still claim it “can’t breathe” and that it shouldn’t exist.

I’ve seen a lot of articles trying to sell retro pugs as healthier and more stable, but the flat face is not the sole contributing factor to their health problems and outcrossing like this (with beagles and jrts) does not guarantee they won’t develop BOAS. It also introduces additional breed issues.
