A watercolour and ink painting. The background is a dusky sky with sweeping grey and purple clouds mixed with golden light. In the foreground are several trees done in ink. Most prominent is a scraggly red pine, typical of Nova Scotia. The top has been shorn off by a storm but the tree continues to send up small new stems amid all its broken branches. The other smaller trees are deciduous and bare of all their leaves, suggesting winter.
